DeniseM 238 Posted October 28, 2013 I have been working with a trainer four days a week for the past month and have really begun to see changes in my strength and endurance, and today, for the first time since I was 18, I ran 1/4 of a mile! I know that might not be a lot to some, but it was amazing to me. I have been doing sprints for the past few weeks, but today I really pushed myself and I was amazed that I could run that far. Not only did I run, I then did 15 minutes worth of free weights, 1000 crunches (yes, three zeros after that 1) and ended with 15 minutes on the stair master. Today was the hardest workout I have had in my life, and it was amazing! I still have a LONG way to go to get to my goal of participating in a sprint triathlon with my hubby, but I think that I might actually get there by next summer. 6 Astaze75, gamergirl, Butterthebean and 3 others reacted to this
endless80 697 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) Amazing! I was on my walk today and I was able to sprint up 4 flights of stairs and I was only a little winded when I got to the top. 6 weeks ago that would have been almost impossible. Butterthebean 8,146 Posted October 28, 2013 Congrats. That's great progress. I love running. If you want to run more...I highly recommend the C25K app. It's a very good app too increase your distance. 1 endless80 reacted to this

Cajunlady12 49 Posted October 28, 2013 I spoke to my physical therapist today and asked him what kind of exercise can I do without hurting my knees. He suggested walking for now. I am walking 10-15 per day and he told me to increase by five minutes a week until I reach 30-45 minutes a day. He told me that when it gets cold in a month or so, to go back to see him and he will give some exercises that I can do at home. I have to be careful due to really bad knees. I see my surgeon next Tuesday and I hope to have lost close to 40 pounds by then.
danyelleb 386 Posted October 29, 2013 DeniseM, if you continue working at it YOU WILL be able to do that sprint triathon (if you don't have any preexisting conditions and/or injuries) by next summer! It is amazing what losing weight does in combination with a consistent exercise regiment. Go! Go! Go! 2 DeniseM and Butterthebean reacted to this
