Here's a crazy question...

It just occurred to me this morning that if they are removing a large portion of your stomach, and the surgery is done via laparoscopic surgery (small incisions) how is the excessed stomach removed from the body? I just read an article that says it's removed through your mouth, is this true???

The procedures I've watched on Youtube the surgeon used the larger of the abdominal incisions to pull the stomach through. I think that's still the typical method, though I'm aware of the type of situation you are referring to. Some surgeons are looking for ways to do laperscopic surgery 'incision free' through the mouth or vagina. Some Currently do single incision through the naval as well.

My surgeon will remove the stomach through the lower left incision. It will be slightly larger than the others and I was told to expect it to be alittle more tender.

That actually has been done but it is mostly removed through the larger incision on the left side of your abdomen. 5 incisions for me, the other 4 were for cameras.

My lapband and stomach were both removed through the same incision, it was the same place that was opened to remove my port. My largest incision was only about 3 inches across, and was glued. No stitches anywhere on the outside. I did have internal dissolvable sutures, I know this because I had several inch long pieces surface and I had to pull them out. For some reason they didn't dissolve, only broke down at the pressure point. I had to remove the knot and the plastic looking sting that was attached.

Ya mine was removed through the lower left incision. It was the only one that ached. My pain wasn't to bad except that one side incision pulled a lot. But nothing so bad I couldn't handle it.

I've seen many laparoscopic surgeries and they always remove things through the largest incision. ;) not the mouth.

I'm not sure they can use the mouth, since there is an intubation tube in there right?

Mine came out through the incision he made inside my belly button. It was definitely more tender afterwards & took the longest to heal.

Mine was removed from a large incision on the right side of my abdomen- it was definitely the largest and most painful of all my incisions. The rest of my incisions were tiny and didn't bother me at all after a few days. The large one bothered me for almost three weeks.

Mine came out through my belly button. I had two other "incisions" that were no smaller than what I imagine it would look like if I got stuck with an ice pick -- not really incisions at all. Now they barely even look like freckles. So, essentially it was single incision surgery. And, since my scar is hidden in my belly button, you really can't tell I had surgery!

Anyways, I remember asking my surgeon if he rolls up the stomach like a yoga mat to get it out through the incision ;) He laughed and said it, and the incision, are quite stretchy and can fit just fine.

This is where my surgeon removed mine.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
