Typical chick reactions to my plans for VSG

Recommended Posts

So I will be sleeved in December, and I have been sharing my plans with a few female friends. My decision to have the surgery was mainly Type I Diabetes, sleep apnea, Transverse Myelitis, asthma, high cholesterol high BP, etc. etc. This surgery will help my blood sugars, which will help my cholesterol, lower my dependence on BP medications and asthma meds and possibly thyroid meds., eliminate my sleep apnea and stress incontinence, I AM READY! My friends, being chicks, listen to me talk about my comorbitites/autoimmune issues and then say, "No fair! You're going to be skinnier than me!" REALLY? THAT is your reaction? Unreal.

It has been for me! Iv had " I worked hard to lose 60 lbs and your getting the easy way out" and the best one yet, " we'll now your going to be the purity one, that's not fair" ok so does that mean I'm the ugly one now, I wanted to slap that chick ( mainly bc even at 267 I'm still cutter then her , lol sorry that's mean but she called me the ugly one basically) ...... I think what it is ( at lest for me) is iv become " the fat friend" the one that being around me makes them feel better ab themselves, bc all my friends back home who never knew me big ( iv gained 120 lbs since I moved away) are only happy and excited for me and can't wait to see me back thin, these chicks here are hating on me.

I'm with you guys on this! I had a co-worker bring her hateraid to me. Don't lose to much weight.. Whatever.. I can't wait until I finish losing this darn weight. That's exactly why I don't want anyone to know that I had the surgery . I don't know why people can't be happy for you. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. Keep your jealousy to yourself!

Thanks. I am not worried about their reactions. Just surprised at how low their self-esteem must be...and yes. I will be healthier. and yes. I WILL LOOK FABULOUS! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
