I got so het up over on OH (see my "Eek! thread in RnR) that I forgot to watch Good Eats on food Network. That's irritating. I LOVE that show and Alton Brown.:D

Last night was all about nuts, it was fun as always. I love his show too, I like that he gives some of the science and history behind the foods.

I can't believe you guys like Good Eats. I've never even found someone else who has heard of it, let alone is a fan. DH LOVES it (being the science guy he is) and has gotten me hooked too. I've even tried out a few of his recipes, and have learned LOTS of general good ideas & tips to use when I cook.

DH has every episode on DVD, and TIVOs all the new ones.

Good Eats is AWESOME. He's pretty much the reason I watch Iron Chef America, too. I really like that he tells you why you are doing something, clearly explains how to do it, and tells you if you can skip steps. Plus, he's funny as hell, in a really geeky, nerdy way.

I have to change the channel before Rachael Ray comes on, though. Uber-perky woman gets on my nerves.

I've tried Alton's macaroni and cheese Casserole (or something like that) recipe and it was GOOD. I really want to try making a version of the frittata he made a few nights ago.

I knew we all had a lot in common. I have tried some of his tips too. I had it on TIVO, I think I may need to add it back. It was making me too hungry for a while post-surgery!:faint:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
