Ok. I woke up this morning with a better attitude. I don't miss food yet. Don't even care at this point. Maybe I had a lobotomy. Cleaned some already too big clothes out of the closet. That felt really good.

If it would help anyone, in my blog, I chronicled the first 10 days. You'll see what we went through. It's on www.sleevers.wordpress.com under Pre-op. My surgery was 8/2 so you can start reading from that date.

For anyone regretting the decision believe everyone that says it does get better!!. You've made a life altering decision and you did that for a reason. Remember that reason and power through. For some it gets worst before it gets better. this is the time to work with your brain.. Learn to handle your food urges they are there and will always be there.. this is the best time to figure out how to control food and not let it control you. The beginning is the best time you have to lose the most amount of weight, so stick with it, power through in a few weeks, maybe even a few days you'll begin to feel better. Hang in there

The first week us so tough. Bored and in a little bit of pain... I sat in my hotel room in TJ, MX thinking of everything I could not have.

I never got truly down but I spent a lot if time thinking about food. What I could not eat

I kept reading over and over this forum. Of all the people who are truly happy now. Trust me it helps. One month later and so far I can eat most anything. Just in small quantities

I am on day 6. As others have said, I cry a lot. From pain, from frustration, from watching my family eat real food that doesn't make them cry out in pain after one babyspoon bite. I know it will get better and that I won't always spend every waking moment praying for death. Even taking pain medicine hurts. Today must be the dreaded gas in the shoulders day. It is kinda nice that something other than my tummy hurts......but I will be happy when nothing hurts. I haven't weighed in a few days. Last time I did I was down a total of 19 lbs. I was only 2 lbs away from the 200s for the first time in forever! Hang in there guys.....it can't get any worse!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
