Sleeve on june 3...feeling fatigue, pale skin, no energy...

Recommended Posts

I! Overall I have been very happy with my sleeve. The past few weeks though, I seem to feel worse and worse. When I get home from work, I just get in bed And get under covers. And on weekends, all I feel like doing is laying in bed and sleeping. No energy, fatigue, cold all the time when others aren't, having to keep thick blanket with my at work. My husband says my skin is very pale, and by mid morning, I have dark circles under my eyes. I went to pcp and had lab work, but waiting on results. I'm still not able to eat a lot, especially, any kind of meat with consistency...unless it is really soft. Has anyone else dealt with this, or have any words of wisdom for me?

I unfortunately don't have any answers, but, since you are five months out I doubt it is sleeve related. Have your Vitamin levels and electrolytes checked just to rule out any nutritional deficiencies. Hopefully the lab work you are waiting on will reveal some clues as to why you are feeling so sick. Hope you feel better soon!

WPierce, congrats on you WLS!!

I'm sorry to hear you're not felling well.

I agree with Camelia getting more test/lab done would be a great idea.

Have you informed your WLS doctor?

What was his advise or suggestion?

I'm not an expert on health, but have had many lab work done for many symptoms and health issues I've dealt with and also I'm a diabetic type 2.

Your description reminded me of and sounds like how I felt when I had my son, had a bit of complication and lost lots of blood I almost needed a blood transfusion but they hooked me up to an Iron iv and that helped. I became anemic

My son is now 22, but to this day when Aunt Flow arrives I get all tired. weak, sleep, fatigue and just want to sleep. I take extra Iron when I'm feeling too tired or add more food with iron to my meals. Also get dark circles under my eyes.

I've found a great concealer I order extra ones so I never run out

Pls make sure the doctor checks your iron, thyroid as well. If you're taking any meds read the side effects. Many meds do cause many symptoms you mentioned.

From reading others post, ensuring to eat Proteins helps energy levels.

BTW I'm pre-op scheduled for surgery 11/15/13

I start my diet 11/1. So I'm hoping some of the post-op experience sleveers reply to your post and can help shed some positive light.

Please keep me posted, sending positive, healthy healing energy and thoughts your way!

Take good care if yourself and listen to your body, rest if you need to rest. ????

Yes! Dealing with my second bout right now (since being sleeved)... I try everything until one go these things fix it. I upped Protein in my shake this morning... Gave myself a B12 shot... Still felt awful. Finally about an hour ago I took an Iron pill and a potassium pill and BAMMM!!! Started feeling better 20 minutes later. One of them was low!

I wish I knew which it was because I was the same way... food didn't sound good. Didn't eat much yesterday. But after I took those two supplements I was able to eat and have an appetite.

Good luck!!!!!! Sending you healing vibes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
