back and joint pain still?

Recommended Posts

Pre op, starting as a teenager when I wasnt that overweight, I had back and knee pain so bad I was in the er more timea than I can count, especially for my back. So of course gaining 100 lbs didnt help. Im down 70lbs and only 40 to go but my back and knees are actually WORSE than before. I know damage done is damage done but I figured id still somewhat improve. Daily I am in so much pain by the end of the night I am.crying or stuck in bed or on the couch. So my question is has anyone gotten worse pain since losing the weight? If so what options did you have? I am hoping when I get home, I will get sometging better than lidacane Patches and capsaicin cream

This sounded strange to me but I'll share. My friend had her surgery over three years ago. She lost 153 lbs in 10 months. She said her surgeon told her to expect skeletal pain because everything was relieved of the pressure and the changes caused the pain. She has no pain now and she is 55,

Hopefulky something to look forward to then! I know my back is going to be bad because I have scoliosis in my lower back by my tailbone and a nerve going through it pinches no matter what but my tailbone always feels bruised like Ive been sitting for days and the upper back just feels compressed. Its absolutely miserable

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
