Hello,

I had my sleeve done on the 16th of October, and I have been on liquid diet since. On Wednesday it will be three weeks out and the next phase is a full liquid diet which adds strained Soups, cream of wheat, vegetable juice, and yougurt. The pureed/soft food stage phase doesnt statt until week 9, and then regular food will be introduced at week 13. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar post op diet. I am discouraged right now because I'm not tolerating the Protein Shakes at all so I'm not able to get in the proper amount of Protein and I feel like I'm starving.

Have you tried the Isopure clear liquid Protein Drinks? I think that is what I am going to use because the thought of those Protein Powder shakes grosses me out.

Hi! I think mine is the same. 10 days liquid pre op. 10 days liquid (protein/water) post op, full liquids/puree until 10 weeks out, then soft until 6 months out. Are you having a hard time because you don't like the shakes or because you can't get enough in? If its because you can't get enough in, try adding a scoop of unflavored Unjury to your shake or an extra scoop to boost the Protein in what you can get down. It helps a lot. Also my dr. Told me the 64oz included all liquids at this stage so that was helpful. Good luck!

I have no pre-op liquid diet, just high Protein low carb the week before. And they start me on pureed foods before hospital discharge. Everyone's diets are so different!

My post op diet is very different. But I will tell you in my pre op phase I really struggled with protein as well. It was making me sick. I found that if I only consumed 17 grams of protein in the am then in the evening I could tolerate a shake with 34 grams of protein. Point being you have to figure out what works for your body. Also reach out to your NUT. I had to do the same thing and she helped me through it. I would discourage you from deviating from your doc's orders. I wish you the best of luck finding the right balance.

I would die if puréed were 9 weeks out. Mine is at 3, and I am barely making that. My soft foods is one month, and I'm already regretting this. I'm so hungry and want real food so bad.

You have the most extreme post op diet I've ever seen anyone on these boards have.

Wow... all I know is these docs are apparently statistically the "best" and I'm lucky to have them here in my hometown. So I'm just gonna follow their advise because out of the thousands of these surgeries they've done so far they have had no complications and 0 deaths. Works for me! Also I wasn't looking for an easy way out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
