Prior to surgery, I LOVED Water, ice cold water, and I drank it all the time. Since my surgery 4 weeks ago, I struggle to get in my water every day and I haven't once reached my goal of 64oz. I've tried all additives too and I HATE fruity flavors and juice. I've added lemon and cucumber, crystal light, sf kool aid, mio, etc. I've tried room temp and cold. I can, however, eat ice and I try to do that all day long. I've also found that if I dilute apple juice (the only juice I like) I can drink that. But it's a constant struggle and I hope it gets better. Good luck to you!

I struggle with Water too and pre op I had no problem. I find Syntrax lemon Protein tea helps me get my water in. Also Vitamin water zero is a nice treat and helps with water intake.

I find that different bottled waters have slightly different tastes.....try a few different kinds. For me Dasani tastes the best. Also for tap Water, I mix about 60% water and 40% apple juice and it goes down very easily.

I found out that warm/hot tea/water goes down super easy! Cold liquids make me sick.

If you're early out it's no surprise. And even vets have issues with this sometimes. There are even threads on it in the vet forum, I believe! I still struggle at times. I just get sick of Water and I avoid most of the drops, too. I only do the ones that have B Vitamins in them, since I'm always low on those. :) But at times plain Water will still make me feel nauseated and other times I just get tired of drinking around the clock. Or visiting the restroom around the clock!

Just work at it and don't quit. There's a definite difference in my loss pattern if I go low on water several days in a row. Close counts here, so drink as much as you can and don't start drinking other things instead. You can run into a real issue if you sub that water for juice, sweet coffees or teas or (heaven forbid, *gasp!*) soda just because you're sick of the H2O.

The additives do get old and definitely taste artificial, especially mio. True lime and lemon to the rescue. I have to flavor or I just won't drink enough.

Hot apple cider is also good now that it is getting colder.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
