I'm sorry that I am no help as I am just starting the pre-op process but I was just curious about how you mentioned having your sleeve done in Mexico. I have read on here about a lot of people going to Mexico, is there a reason for that rather than having in done at your local hospital? Is it an insurance issue, less red tape (ie: less pre op time/work up)...just wondering?

I wasn't a MX sleever, but there's a whole section here on the MX doctors. Also, you can do a search for Jerusalem Hospital at the top of the page & hopefully find other folks that way. Good luck!

Yes ma'am I am still doing research I'm going alone and that scares me. The whole not knowing

Ok. I didn't know the reason you were scared and I completely understand. I was terrified and scared too that I had made a crazy decision. But trust in yourself that you've done your homework and have made a good decision.

I've read all but positive information about WLS in Mexico. Mines will be in Burbank, CA

Search your doctor and hospital and you will find all the info posted. I think you will feel much better and comfortable.

I've done my research and felt good and ready. However yesterday I confirmed my surgery on 11/15/13 and today I feel my emotions out of control. Happy, excited, butterflies to suddenly crying. I don't know why the crying and blaming the pmsing.

From all I've researched feeling scared is normal.

Best wishes and luck to us all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
