I am post op 4 days but now I have feelings of regret about having surgery? Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing this emotion?

I mean I feel like I needed this to loose the weight because I wasnt able to curb my cravings and the amount of food I consumed so then I feel like I did the right thing. Like its what I really wanted. Idk I just need someone to talk to.

Even though I personally did not experience that, I have seen many folks report feeling the exact same way. It seems to me that it's totally normal. Your body has just been through an ordeal, you're hurting from surgery, your hormones are all over the place, etc. Give yourself some time to heal & I'll bet the regret will pass as the pounds begin to come off. Good luck to you! :)

I did the same thing. I was like "OMG what have I done!!??" It gets soo much easier the further out you get. It is rough being on all liquids, being nauseated, not getting enough fluids, etc... All of this passes though.

I'm almost 8 weeks out and it HAS gotten much better. I'm not going to lie and say I never want to eat more than I do now, but it's a head thing, I'm not really hungry for more than a few bites. Hang in there and if I can be any help, please feel free to ask. There are many others on here with a lot more knowledge than me, but I will help in any way I can. You can PM me anytime.

Good luck.

I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I felt very emotional for about 10 days. Ithad passed. I remember talking to other people who had the same feeling. Take some Time let yourself heal. I am feeling great went back to work 6 days after surgery. No regrets. I had lost 12 pounds pre surgery and 12 pounds after. Go for a walk and let out those emotions out. This will pass. Good luck

I was sleeved on Oct 7th and totally understand the emotional part! I'm snippy and people look at me the wrong way I just cry!

I'm off work for 6 weeks and hoping it gets better before I go back to work!

I still have those emotional days...not so much as in the beginning, but oh well. This forum does help. And I make my hubby listen even if he doesn't understand ;-P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
