kim070682 22 Posted October 26, 2013 I am 3 months out and I have lost 60lbs! I am definitely excited about my progress but I would like to keep this going. I know eventually I will slow down losing and I think I am in a stall right now. Can anyone tell me what they did to keep the weight loss going? I still need to lose about 80lbs.... Thanks 1 caligirl3 reacted to this
INT125922 53 Posted October 26, 2013 Nice work Kim My sister had surgery before me and she decided not to exercise at the beginning (easy decision) while the weight loss was easy. She then chose to start exercising when the weight loss slowed some. Her reasoning was that if she was gung ho with exercise from the start then when the weight loss slowed she would have to increase the exercise to a level that was not sustainable. So, when I had surgery I did the same thing. I just had the simple walking to and from work for 10 minutes each way and added one treadmill 30 minute walk a week for the first 5 months (remembering that's a lot of exercise anyway when you're that heavy). I felt the slow down 5 months so I started going to the gym twice a week doing cardio and weights (again, alot of exercise LOL). Then, at 9 months I slowed down again some, put up with it for a few weeks then said yes, 5:2 diet. So I have been on 5:2 since and weight is dropping nicely still. I am at month 11 since surgery now and am down 71.6 kilos / 157 pounds. 5 sherry24184, caligirl3, MimiM and 2 others reacted to this

joatsaint 2,814 Posted October 26, 2013 I keep to my diet and walk, walk, walk. I started out back in Jan, walking from the far end of the parking lot into work and now I'm up to 3 miles/hr 4 to 5 days a week. Your choices are to either work harder to burn more calories or eat fewer calories as your weight drops. 1 No game reacted to this
No game 14,437 Posted October 26, 2013 Yes stick to the plan, you are three months out still early in your losing phase. Push your liquids (at least 64 oz) Eat and record your Protein and veg. And move! These are the important things.
INT125922 53 Posted October 26, 2013 Put Simply: 5 days "normal" calories ie. 1200 -1500 (I guess they mean normal for a dieter) 2 days 500 calories (or 600 for men or for those with lots to lose) The 2 days must not be consecutive (must have at least 1 day in between). Fast for 18 hours on the 2 days (if you can - surely it'd still work as you're eating restricted calories anyway) How do I fast for 18 hours ? I just count the hours from when I last ate the night before eg. last food Sunday night at 10 PM = first food Monday 4.00 PM. I do the fast days when I am at work and I just drink Water and 2 coffees til 4. I don’t get hungry anyway so it doesn't bother me and I'm so busy at work that I don't notice I have no food. (Then I do the same again on Wednesday). The above is said to actually be good for you as it is said to increase longevity in humans as they didn't naturally always have food available to them. In the fast periods the body can do certain repair work that it is unable to achieve while digesting. 5:2 sounds counterintuitive in a way I know because they have been drumming into us for years that we must eat Breakfast to lose weight. Other critics are saying that it may promote disordered eating in some individuals. As I said, it works for me because I don't get hungry anyway and am so busy at work I don't notice because my life no longer revolves around food. You may then question when you are meant to exercise – normal or fast day ? I keep reading on the wider internet threads relating to 5:2 that it is to be the fast day..... So I’ve been doing it then. Lots of posts on here and wider internet, just type it in the search bar of this site – this sit can be more relevant for you though vs.the wider internet because this is from a sleever perspective. kim070682 22 Posted October 26, 2013 I get over 64oz of Fluid a day and record everything in MFP. I have started walking at least 4 days a week for 30-45 minutes. Plus keeping up with my twin 3 year olds and 8 year old. Thanks for the replies!!!

Hahaha, you're doing well to do that much exercise (I don't have kid yet and I have nooooo time LOL, I don't know how you Mums do it but I guess you just find a way casue you gotta). Keep it up, you'll be there in no time.

I am at month 11 since surgery now and am down 71.6 kilos / 157 pounds. This is a great strategy. Back in the day when I worked out with a personal trainer, they basically said this same thing to me. Don't start doing an hour of cardio a day now, when you have all the weight to lose, because by the time you're lighter, you'll have to do 3 hrs/day to maintain what your body is used to! I think about half way I'm going to start to incorporate weight training 2 days and small walks (30 minutes) 3 days a week, resting on weekends. I don't want a ton of loose skin, but I also want to take advantage of my honeymoon period (that 1st year) to get the weight off... 1 INT125922 reacted to this
