Overfill? Sweet Spot ? Who knows

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had my 2nd fill, and all I have been experiencing in the last 2 days was SLIMING. The only thing that goes down properly is oatmeal, and some Soup broth. How do you tell if you have too much fill? Does this feeling of not being able to really eat (but wanting to eat) change a few days after a 2nd fill? My concern is that I want to be able to get some Protein down, but not sure if takes a few days for my stomach to settle before I can really handle soft Protein.< /p>

Although I am extremely happy about finally feeling restriction, not sure if if the fact that I can't really eat 2 days after my 2nd fill means I have too much?

SO unsure. :faint:

My doc says to do liquids for 7 days after Fill. Clear Liquids 24 hours after fill to help swelling go down. There is a chance that your stomach is swelled and making you too tight, or you could be over filled. I would try to back off for a few days and go on very liquid liquids to see if that helps :)

What instructions did your fill doc give you in regards to food after your fill - my doc suggests for the first fill - 3 days on liquids/mushies, for subsequent fills it is 24 hours of liquids. Since it's been two days and you are getting liquids down (right?) i would wait until day three - if you still can't eat solids in my opinion you are too tight. Sometimes just taking out the smallest amount helps immensely. Usually after a fill you swell -and everyone is a bit different with how much you swell, etc. And, some fills take a while to kick in but if you are this tight right off the bat - give the doc and call and consider a slight unfill. Take care.

I agree, I would go back to liquids exclusively for a day or so, and if you have trouble drinking--it is time to unfill a tad. It isn't uncommon---being unable to truly see the band, it is a chance we take.

From what I read, and from what my sister in law said, the slight unfill, and she was good to go again!

Good Luck!!! Sliming Sucks!!!

My doctor said 3 days follow clear liquids, and then move on to full liquids for the next 2 days. I must admit I HAVE not followed those instructions to the "Tee", which makes my life much more difficult. I think the best advice would be to go back to liquids and by Wed I will evaluate if I still can't eat... maybe I would need a slight unfill. Thanks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
