Or in other words, how the mighty fall.

Oh hard times!

Self image, weight, perception, I am pretty, I am thin I am ugly, I am fat,

My own worse enemy.

I slip a little then I trip myself all the way.

food, my enemy, my nemesis! My lifeline my love!

I must eat!

I mustn't eat!

I never want to eat again.

I want to eat all the time...

Day by day as I consume, I am consumed.

I am an inspiration, I am a sham.

I am hanging on so fragile and scared.

I want to live, this is not living.

That's a terrific poem. I agree with it all. It is a constant struggle, inside and out.

Thank you,

I am feeling somewhat fragile tonight.

This journey sometimes gets overwhelming, in the sense that it is endless.

These thoughts are consuming me this week and I am weary...

I feel it too. Your post made me smile. Someone else knows how I feel! I'm just over 2 months out from band to sleeve. I wonder what my new normal will be, and when it will arrive? One year, two years, three years? How long until I am at peace with these changes? One moment I am imagining my lovely, healthy, smaller, happy new stomach. The next I feel so bad for butchering, damaging, hurting my body and imaging a lifetime of regrets.

But I keep going, one day at a time. Reminding myself to be grateful for all I have. I am blessed. All will be well. And then I am back to imagining that wonderful future I wish for myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
