Why not try a cold boiled egg? Maybe a little Pate on a light rice cracker or something like that. Maybe a little high in fat but a good quality chicken liver Pate will have some Iron in it too. Hommus/Hummus is a good source of vegetable Protein from chickpeas and is really nice on a carrott or celery stick...great recipes to be found online for this. How about Tofu?

Not the most perfect suggestions but might do for a little variety once in a while.

Congratulations on your progress!!!!!

Not sure how far out you are but my go to Snacks are Quest bars, mixed nuts, or Ostrim sticks (protein packed slim jim).

I also like the Ostrim Jerkee (60 Calories, 1g sugar, 10g protein) and the Ostrim Sticks as well (80 calories, 1g sugar, 14g protein).....Sodium is a little high...........so it's not a daily item....have to look at each flavor as I think there's one that has higher sugar

I eat one Atkins Protein bar each day. They are sugar-free and protein-packed. My fav is the Chocolate-oatmeal Fiber bar, since in addition to Protein, I am on a continual Quest for Fiber. 6 grams of protein, 10 of fiber.

Also try 0% fat, plain Greek yogurt with a tsp of no sugar fruit preserves and Splenda.

Sorry my answer may read like a run on sentence, for some reason my enter button doesn't work here but: egg whites, shrimp (I buy them frozen from Wal Mart in bags and divvy out 12 a day for my PM snack), cottage cheese, greek yogurt, bacon (I prefer turkey bacon), beef Jerky, Pork rinds and almonds. Hope that helps you some what!!!

I like the pure Protein Bars, The EAS Advantage Carb Control Protein Drinks only have 100 calories and 17 grams of Protein and taste great. Light and lively Greek yogurt is really good too and turkey or beef Jerky. I find all of these to be a good snack for protein.

Duh I forgot Protein drinks. How'd I forget that? Our "staple"! :) (I do pure protein or premier but that's a personal preference.) I'm going to have to look up those EAS carb control drinks. (How many ozs are they?) Any flavor that you would suggest?

Was wondering why the labels on pork rinds say not a significant source of Protein when there's 8-9 grms listed??

I drink rockin refuel Recovery milk drink. By shamrock farms. Lactose free. 30 grm Protein. 190cal. 6 gr sugar. 12 carbs. Best of all priced 1 dollar each. Oh. 12 oz bottles. chocolate. They have van and choc in 20 protein also but these have more sugar snd calories. So I stick with the 30 gm protein ones

I just made cumin & lime zest pumpkin seeds! I also love roasted acorn squash seeds roasted with parmesan cheese. Also a big fan of almonds. Check out Sahale nut mixes. Awesome flavors, great crunch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
