How long before you saw your weight loss?

Recommended Posts

How many months after VSG/how many pounds did it take before you began noticing your weight loss? Like one day you noticed your arms where thinner or face looked leaner? Where there any areas you lost weight faster than others?

I have a chubby face and carry most of my weight in the stomach so hoping the belly decreases first.

I am only 28 pounds down, so i may not have as much input as others, but the first place i saw a change in was my face. The face is usually the first to go. and i think almost everyone notices my weight loss because of my "skinny" face now. From my past experiences, with all my attempts to los weight, for me, the hardest to get rid of is my legs and arms. BUT, i have noticed my arms got a bit smaller. Thank god, because i always cover up my arms, no matter what the weather be. I am very self conscious about them. my waist has gotten smaller as well, i can tell in my clothes. and me legs just have gotten more muscular. But from what i hear, the face and tummy are the first to go, or get smaller, so you have that on your side! haha. good luck!

After I came out of a coma in the hospital and could not walk or talk it was the nursing staff who constantly mentioned that my face was getting smaller, my butt and my legs...When I finally came home and saw myself in a mirror...My mother was staring aback at me..Freaked me right out! My face really showed the loss!

I made sure that I took Pictures before and each month on the same day in the same outfit and it really made a difference when I would put them side by side to see the progress. It looks like you are only a few days out so if you havent taken pics I suggest that you go ahead and do it. It isnt fun but I promise that it is something that you will appreciate having later. Also go ahead and take measurements.

You are going to do great!

About a week after surgery I noticed my double chin and shoulders/big arms looked a bit different, but that's about it. I lost a nice amount of weight during the 2-week liquids, then things really slowed down week 3. Even now (I'm almost to Week 7 post op) I don't "see" my weight loss, but I can sure feel it! My clothes are much looser (except in my large belly, which apparently I'm going to lose last.) No one has really noticed my weight loss - I think because it's coming off very slowly. I really don't see it, but I'm happy I can feel it!

I noticed the weight loss about 3 weeks out my face and lower legs appeared slimmer. I will be six weeks out tomorrow my butt is getting flatter, shoe size is a 1/2 smaller and I cannot wear my wedding rings, which I have had re sized twice before, my bra size is also smaller. My highest weight as an adult was 240 pounds. However when I started this journey towards the sleeve I was 207. I went to a party yesterday with my colleagues and everyone noticed. The highest weight they ever seen me was 225.

I have notice in my face and legs are smaller. I am 5 weeks out. I lost 16 pounds at my 1 week post op visit. I have not weighed in since. I don't want to be OCD about weighing like I know I can. I see my nutritionist on 11/20.

I am pre-op. However, I did lose 92 lbs at one point in my life with phentermine. It took about 40 lbs before I could notice, and it was in my face first. My husband noticed it a little sooner than I did.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
