How long did it take you to start to see your hair grow back? I'm a little over 4 months out and it's been falling out in globs :( I already had thinning hair and now it's worse. I take 10,000 mg of Biotin daily, and bought that "Wet" brush people talked about (good brush, btw! lol)...but...still nothing. How long does it normally take? Anybody know?

I'm so glad you asked this question! I am also almost 4 months out and I can't believe the amount of hair I am loosing. Literally handfuls when I wash my hair.

I am not sure on that, still pre-op, but I got Shampoo at CVS called "Bioton & Collegen" its in a dark purple plastic round fat bottle with a big gold cap. I think it is put out by "Organix" or a name close to that...It was around 5.00..my hair is nice & thick now, it does work for me...preparing for the loss...Good Luck!

When I was going through chemo, I lost about 2/3 of my hair. Mostly all in one day. Here are some tricks that I used that seemed to help.

10,000 Biotin every day.

Do not comb or brush your hair. Finger comb.

Do not use any heated appliances on your hair. No blow dryers, no curling irons, etc.

Do not have any treatments added to your hair. No straightening, no coloring or perming.

Get some Aloe Vera juice and spray your scalp with it at least once a day. It conditions the scalp.

No hats. No barrettes. Nothing that is likely to pull at your hair.

Hope that helps!

Oh man, I can't imagine not coloring my hair LOL Ugh. But..anything that may help I guess :) Thanks for the suggestions!

6-7 months out I can see regrowth? Not too much longer! I just hope it's not a ton more hair gone before then lol

I actually still colored my hair during the 'loss' period and it was fine. I just touched up the roots. There is NO WAY I was going without coloring lol.

I am not there yet but I am going to get hair extensions to help the regrowth. I am staying a away from heat. I was going to colored hair but decided to get weave instead

Our hair is so fragile during this time. Not only falls out but also breaks really easily. You may want to hold off on the extensions until after this phase

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
