So... I was sleeved a week ago today. Everything went well and I've had no problem getting all my liquids in.... Which leads me to my concern. I'm having no problem getting liquids in (and fast) I feel hungry, this just feels way too easy - I feel like I could eat a 5 course meal!! I'm worried this isn't going to work for me. Was anyone else feeling the same a week out? I need some encouragement please!

If you are having no trouble with liquids, that should indicate that your surgeon did an excellent, meticulous job and you have very little swelling in your newly sleeved tummy. What causes people to feel restriction with liquids at the outset isn't really the underlying size of the sleeve so much as it is a swollen, traumatized, post-surgery sleeve. So if you don't feel restriction with liquids, odds are very high you had a great surgery and are healing well.

On the other hand, it probably isn't a good idea to push it by seeing how fast you can chug a Protein Shake.< /p>

Also, you had nerves snipped in your stomach and they aren't healed yet, which explains why things feel "easy" with your stomach. Believe me, once you get to solid foods, you will feel your restriction.

As for feeling hungry, some people do . . . if you aren't on a PPI, you may want to check with your surgeon about a prescription. Often, especially early on, stomach acid can mimic the feeling of hunger.

Listening to other people and their troubles getting things down it scares you when it's easy. I should probably look at it like I'm lucky it's so easy. :)

I agree with Buffle. I have never had ANY problem drinking normally. "Water goes right through". BUT, when you try it with food (and everyone does -- I did, ONCE), expect a RUDE awakening with various combinations of nausea, the Slimies, vomiting, and discomfort. Don't worry that it is physically easy. Focus on the 'fat brain' that is where our REAL work is, and there is no sleeve for the fat brain!

I already find myself getting up and down and opening the fridge and staring at all of the food I can't have :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
