Chewables make me so nauseous!

Recommended Posts

These chewable vitamins make me so nauseous! I have the Bariatric Advantage Orange flavor, of which I decided on from the numerous samples they sent me. I do deep breathing exercises to get through the temporary nausea, and it does pass, but....wow! I am one week post surgery and other than that....doing great!

Ugh I had the same issue with BA. I ended up going to GNC and getting their daily Multivitamin. It has all the same stuff. It's a quick release capsule, I take two in the am and two at night. Now I'm better.

Nice to know! My doc wants me on chewables through week 3, so, I may have to find a liquid or other alternative for the next two weeks. Ugh. :/

I had that same wave of nausea until recently but never got sick. Just noticed this past month it no longer happens:)

I used Wellesse liquid Multivitamins for the first month after surgery, then switched to Trader Joe's High Potency chewables. Never had a problem with either. And the Trader Joe's multi-Vitamins cost about $6 for a 45 day supply (2 tablets/day) while the Bariatric Advantage cost about $20 for a 45 day supply (2 tablets/day).

I also get my B12, Iron, and Probiotics from Trader Joe's - much cheaper than I can find the same stuff anywhere else.

I'm 6 weeks post op and have tried so many different Vitamins. The chewable a from Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage make me vomit. I've tried orange, berry something and vanilla. My doctor moved me to capsules at 2 weeks because of the vomiting and still the same thing! I'm taking celebrate Multi capsules and each time I swallow one I know to grAb my pink puke tray. It's to the point where I skip them most times because I don't want to throw up. My NUT suggested I open and mix them with food, but any way I put them into my body, they come back up. It's so frustrating!!!

I'm so sorry! I hope this all gets better! I plan on switching to tablets once I can get off chewables. I haven't actually vomited....yet, and it's usually only the second dose that makes me really nauseous. I hope you find a solution soon!

I don't knoe about Flinstones. My dr har certain requirements for my Vitamins and the Bariatric ones were the only ones I could find that met all those requirements as far as folic acid, Iron, zinc etc.... I did request samples beforehand and settled on the orange flavor, and they didn't make me nauseous at all pre-surgery. Something changed post surgery as a lot of things have. Just one of many changes you'll go through! :)

I couldn't stomach the chewables at all ! I am 5 months out and ever since month 3 , I take women's Centrum petite s they are 1/2 the size if a regular multi Vitamin . My nut looked at them and said they were fine to take . I didn't have any trouble swallowing these at all . My Nut said to take 4 a day

Good news! I went to GNC today and got their Women's Ultra Mega chewable Multivitamin. It does not make me sick at all, PLUS it has thier beauty blend to support hair, skin, and nails which we all know is super important through this process as well! It's a mixed berry flavor, a little sour, but, I thought it was pretty good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
