Ok what I did is I made myself accountable to someone else. First I put as my fb status that my goal was to get in four days of exercise this week. So alot of my friends commented. Then I told my son we were getting in four walks this week. So now I have to go because he loves going with me. So it's Wednesday and I've already gone three times. Last week I was lazy so I knew I had to change this week.

I hired a personal trainer. That gives me definite days and times I must exercise. If I don't go, my instructor's income is affected, so I go. I have been doing this twice a week for over a year now and have only missed when I was traveling. Three other days I go to a deep Water aerobics class. Who doesn't like the water? I have formed friendships with the other people in the class so I go. You can exercise, too. Find something you can do and give yourself reasons to do it.

Yeah, if you lack some self motivation, let someone hold you accountable like a personal trainer or workout buddy. Maybe at some point down the road, missing a session will not be somrthing you're ok with or your day will not quite be complete without it....then you'll be more self motivated. Peer pressure never really leaves our lives, it just evolves and hopefully matures a little. Why not use it in some type of positive way if possible. :)

One of the things you can do is to set your goals lower for a while. I don't know if you work out at a gym, but if you do, and if you have gone for one hour sessions in the past, just make yourself go for 1/2 hour sessions for a week or two. If you've been walking two miles, then just walk for a mile at a time for a week or two. If you haven't been going to the gym, just make yourself go for 10 minutes per session for the first week, or the same with walking.

The key is to get yourself to do something. Once you are doing something then it's not so difficult to make yourself do more of it later.

You can also change up whatever you are doing for exercise as well.

My friend asked me to participate in a 5k that's coming up next month. That motivated me to start back working out so I can be prepared.

Think of how hot and beautiful you will be come spring and summer 2014. I know it's not easy (esp. If you live in a snowy place) but if you have already developed some sort of fitness habit, you don't want to start all over in preparation of next season. Keep yourself ready through the Holiday's and when everyone else is scrambling to join a gym in January so they can get in shape, you will already be in shape. I find feeling strong and looking good is one hell of a motivator! :)

Honestly. I don't want to do anything which I can't do in my thermal jammies! its clear that I need to focus on self discipline.

I put my treadmill in the living room so it is always in sight as a reminder. Plus even if I have my headphones on with music, seeing the tv on distracts me so instead of focusing on my minutes I focus on the tv and get so much more done without it feeling like an effort. I'm a tv junkie so just being in that familiar setting makes it easier for me to not feel like I've changed so much at once. Good luck getting on track. We all have these days.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
