HI All

Just wanted to say Hello, i live in the UK (we are fat there too!) and am hoping to be MID banded within the next month, am very excited that my body may last a few more years yet now i have found this tool. My life seems to be on hold and am cramming in so many 'last suppers' it's not true (yikes:)

Bit more background attached below for anyone who's interested:

Welcome Joanne!! Glad to have you join us!

Be especially careful with the 'last supper' thing. It only adds to what you have to take off after the surgery AND believe it or not, you will get to eat these foods again. :)

Welcome!

Congratulations!!

No pre-op diet needed, no Vitamins, eat normal foods within a few days after op!!! Woo Hoo!

Most people can not eat normal foods within a few days after op. Do check into this again, mush foods, yougart, Soup maybe. Otherwise looks like your all set.

Good Luck

Thanks for the welcome guys :)

Thanks for the advice Vera, will check again but surgeon was pretty specific and i have full confidence in him - bizarre how they differ from region to region isn't it? I suspect i will be bit reticent about eating 'normal' foods for a while anyway - just in case!

Leatha - i know, am just kidding myself re last suppers, even i'm getting fed up with them now:sick

Anway, best get to work, bye for now. :D

Thanks Marie!

have just read ur post about MrB, how sad, but they r remarkably resiliant little devils, i'm sure he'll be fine. My husbands cat (who would also benefit from a band :) ) used to live outside and just come in for meals but since i had his "bits" LOPPED OFF (HAD TO BE DONE, HONEST) and had few nasty fights he's adjusted to staying indoors beautifully, in fact i have to kick him out when the sun deigns to shine!

I doubt it will be too long, at least I hope not. They said since I will be a self pay it would happen pretty fast. One thing I have learned while living in Texas what I call fast is not fast. Texans are slow moving, and I like that too, but I was always use to the fast moving coming from up north. so we will see. Maybe we will be getting it done about the same time and can help each other. I will find out more on the 28th.

Betty

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
