Has Anyone Had A Problem With Weight Gain After TT

Recommended Posts

I lost quite a bit of weight PRIOR to WLS, then had a TT. After my TT, I had the mind set that "now I no longer have to be as careful about what I eat". Of course that thinking led me to ultimately need WLS.

Just saying, don't fall into the same trap I did. Even after a TT it is still possible to gain In your abdomen. Your weight line increases and your upper abdomen will get fuller.

How long ago was your TT? I just had mine 23 days ago. Since then I've not eaten very well. It's killing me not to be able to exercise, and for me the 2 go hand in hand. It's like if I exercise I won't ruin it by eating badly. But since I can't exercise for a while....well you know. Plus I can see my abs, so it's like I feel like that 1 this or that won't hurt me. But as you say, those, things add up and that's what got me obese in the first place.

Thanks for the tip. What's your game plan for turning things around?

I had my TT 2 years ago. It's crazy the games your mind can play. I had dieted for so long that after the TT I thought I deserved to take a break ....... eventually I got back to the weight I was when I started dieting.

I was sleeved August 5th of this year. I have since lost 32 lbs. from my highest weight. I need to lose at least 10 more pounds to be at my pre TT weight. I would like to get to 140-145, the 130's are really too thin for me @ 5'6". I am hopeful that with this new tool, and lifestyle changes I will now be able to maintain my weight loss.

Fortunately the weight I gained last came off first, so I have my waistline and my flat tummy back. I also had Lipo on my hips and backside. It wasn't all that attractive when the weight started coming back, it was very disproportionate.

Congrats on the TT. I'm sure you will do great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
