Thank you so much. Iam actually doing much better now about the decision. The waiting is hard tho. How is your hair fall out doing? And are you finding good nutrion support? Thank you again. Where do you live?

I haven't lost any hair, I have LOTS of hair. As for nutrition support, I'm getting most of it from other sleevers. Found some pretty cool tips like gerber cheetos, but really I'm eating pretty normal, just a fraction of a serving which is fine by me. I'm not really ever hungry so I have to make sure I eat regularly. I feel 100% normal, no fatiuge. I work out regularlly and WORK 12-14 hour days on most days. I live in Atlanta. Its the best decision I've ever made.

I figure I need to lose from 48 to 63 pounds. It might as well be 10x that much as there is no way I will be able to do it without a sleeve. Before my most recent back injury, I could lose some weight but would always gain that weight back and then some. At least since my mid 30s. Years back I was thinking about this surgery, but after gaining 25 pounds in less than a years time now I need to do something. Positive feedback loop with pain, weight gain and then each is causing more of the other. I have tried countless diets, diet pills, HCG injections, sensa - now hitting menopause & pain limiting me from exercising the way I have my whole life - I'm not giving another year of my life over to more weight gain and debilitation. Already suffering from high lipids and GERD. I need help to get out of this cycle, and to keep from getting even heavier & worse off than I am already.

I understand completely . I came to the understanding this is going to be my path. @206 and 5'5" bmi34. High bp, cholestrol207. high lipids menopause too...I have lost and regained too many times.. I don't want another yr of agonizing about my fat...I am done. I just want to think about ore imp things than my fat 24/7. It rules me. I am a self pay with Dr Alvarez on 11/11. Go see his videos on youtube you can learn so much. Also the big sleeve book and Dr Alvarez has a book..got both on kindle. I did get an EKG,extensive blood work and a clearing from my IM doc. Good luck on your journey whatever you decide. Dr Alvarez has done over 5,000. And I have talked with a few. That are super happy with his surgery. Oh his price is 8,700

Hope buy some of the chewable vitamins in Tijuana. But i really wanted to say - my wife is so mean - she has a large cupcake in the fridge which she plans to have for Breakfast just before we leave for the plane in a few hrs time. I reckon i should leave it out for the birds and tell her I ate it. lol

So far so good. Surgery was on Thursday, the 31st no gas pain or much of any pain, just hard to sleep with nurses coming in every hour or so! I was pretty groggy while in the hospital so I was exhausted when I first got home. Went back to work on Monday (4 days post op) and energy is fine. I've walked every day (my dog has been loving this) and did a spin class yesterday (9 days post op). I took it easy during the class but it felt good to burn some calories. I have struggled to get all my Water and Protein and am sick of of all the sweet stuff so creamed Soups have been a nice change. I've also been able to eat cottage cheese and a little egg salad. Not hungry at all. I'm 10 days post op today and am down 9.5 since the surgery and down 22 since starting the pre op diet. I do have to try harder to get liquids and protein in. All and all, no complaints (I was so nervous before surgery that I considered canceling, so glad I didn't).

my sister and i went to tj to do the surgery with dr Cabrera at mi doctor...my sister needs to lose 60 lbs and i 40-50....

it went well....some gas pain and also pain at some of the surgery sites....

we both lost 10 pounds in the first 10 days then stalled for a week....today is 4 weeks after surgery and we both lost approx 15-16 pounds....i have not been drinking Protein drinks as they make me gag....my sister did for a few days only....instead i drank chicken broth buttermilk, kefir coconut Water and ate some eggsalad....cannot get more than 3-4 cups of Water down a day....its difficult especially now that its cold....i should drink tea with a bit of agave nectar to sweeten....but havent done that either....i started with puree within a week after surgery and tried some soft foods thereafter....i go by what feels ok....i have had some heartburn....but i find if i dont eat late and dont lie down soon after eating i dont get the heartburn.....

my biggest issue is the weight loss....i know 15 pounds a month is not bad but i truly thought i would lose more...maybe about 20 the first month.....my sister is also disappointed....we both lose .5 of a pound every other or third day....we stall often for a few days or a week.....so in three weeks we lost 5 and 6 pounds.....thats way too little....hopefully it will pick up....i will try to drink more and exercise more.....

I was just sleeved yesterday. My bmi is 31. I also have people telling me that I don't "need" the surgery. Of course I can't wait to look and feel great, but most importantly I am doing this as a preventative measure. My family is obese, we have high blood pressure and heart disease as well. I prefer to not get to the point where I can't move and am miserable. My mom supports me 100% because she had the lap band and and a Tummy Tuck in her 50's. She said she wishes she would have done it way sooner. My goal is to lose 50 pounds and every pound will be worth the money and the lifestyle change. My outlook on food has been changing ever since I started researching the sleeve. I'm proud of my decision. Those who sit in judgement have not walked in my shoes so their opinions don't affect me. I did this for me smile.png

My BMi was 31 as well and even a bit under 30 the day do surgery. I self paid and it was no problem. It's been 2 months and I've lost 24 lbs. it's been very slow for me, about 1 lb per week. I work out 2 hours every day and my average calorie intake is about 700 per day. Actually, I'm getting a bit frustrated. Love this thread. Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
