I had my surgery 10-21 and they told me during surgery you have a breathing tube placed down your throat to breath when you are knocked out. Your throat could hurt for a while. They rant that gentle with you when you are put to sleep!

Yes being intubated during surgery can cause a sore throat. Mine lasted about four days with my hernia surgery.

Whenever I had something to drink that early out, I had horrific pain when I swallowed even just a teeny tiny trickle...........my stomach was spasming.........I was told to warm up my liquids.......and it made a difference......the spasms would happen even with room tempearture liquids.< /span>

I warmed up everything, even my crystal light...ask your doctor's office about the pain you're expereincing

be patient with your body.......your tummy is swollen and pissed off as hell :D

That being said, a week makes a huge difference.....Wishing you the best and an easy recovery.....welcome to the losers' bench!

I got sleeved on the 14th Ann's that was what was happening to me every time I swallowed I could deal it got down then it should hurt as it entered the new pouch.the only think I could think of its that they bruised that entrance muscle with the tube they use to gauge your new pouch. It went away in about a week. I hasty powered threw it in order ttyl get all my liquids down. Not sure weather that was the weight or wrong thing to do.

My dr gave me a steroid shotgun help bring the swelling down. I wasn't able to keep Water down due to the swelling.

Today feeling much better. I've been walking all over and passed my leak test! I've got diluted apple juice now!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
