Mousesmom 90 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Let me say this up front. This is all about me and my lack of will power. Therapy is not an option until after the first of the year. I have been so bad lately. We have had a manager move on and got a new one. She's great, friendly, supportive and will be good for our office. But...both managers have candy bowls. They are much too available to me. All day I watch co-workers go and get candy bars, Peanut Butter cups, etc... I have fallen back to the same habit. It sucks! I suck. It was way to easy to slide back here again. I did ask if the candy bowl could leave too, but was out voted. I am thinking about asking to move cubicles. I hate to leave the one I am in. Its by a window and a door. It is so rare that they can spark issues when one comes open. And no I couldn't get it back later. So...self preservation and candy bowl avoidance by moving inland away from the natural light and premium spot. But get back to weight loss mode. Or stay and continue to struggle with this problem. I can't stand that I have to consider this because I can't control myself. Any thoughts? This sucks! Edited October 23, 2013 by Mousesmom
NMJG 1,266 Posted October 23, 2013 Put a picture of yourself at your heaviest right where you will see it every time you leave your cube.
ReDbEaN 654 Posted October 23, 2013 Put a picture of yourself at your heaviest right where you will see it every time you leave your cube. Great idea!!! That should definitely be an incentive to refrain from eating the candy! 1 NMJG reacted to this
vegasneon 181 Posted October 23, 2013 I work in an office with a big candy bowl about 10 or 12 feet behind me. I tell myself "thats not food" and "thats not yours" and pretty much refuse to even see it as being there. I would not give up the prime location. 1 Momonanomo reacted to this
southernsoul 773 Posted October 23, 2013 This is not going to be the first of such challenges you face. How many times will you give up something that is good for you (prime spot, sunlight, window) for something that is bad for you? Maybe this is a good opportunity to put yourself & what is good for you front & center, and deal with those old habits head on. 3 Momonanomo, De-jo and Taminski reacted to this
Momonanomo 534 Posted October 23, 2013 I work in an office with a big candy bowl about 10 or 12 feet behind me. I tell myself "thats not food" and "thats not yours" and pretty much refuse to even see it as being there. I would not give up the prime location. I agree - i have used the "thats not food" tactic successfully. Candy is in brightly colored wrappers to cathc our attention. I have always been a sugar and candy fiend. As a child, i was the kid who put anything in my mouth if it resembeled candy at all. Fancy soaps, for example, when i was about 4. Jeez laweez. But my point is, if you try to look at that brightly colored candy and think"those are soaps" or, "those are markers" maybe you can Not think of them as edible any more. My work has a ridiculous amount of candy --i will have to post a picture some time. This is the only way for me to stay away. And i know i can not just have one... And, you do not suck! You are not alone. And you can conquer this!!!
unbesleevable1 420 Posted October 23, 2013 I'm gonna try that, "Those are Soaps!" 1 Momonanomo reacted to this
