Food question, 4 weeks out

Recommended Posts

I am eating the Stage 3 diet four weeks out and am wondering about my sleeve capacity. For dinner tonight I ate 3 ounces of chicken and 1/2 cup of steamed Swiss chard. It doesn't look like much (compared to my family and my former self) but does that seem normal? I felt comfortably full when I was done, not overfull.

I have lost 15 pounds in the last month, by the way, for a total of 40 from my highest.

That sounds about right for the amount I was eating. My capacity at that time was about 1/2 cup of dense food, like chicken or ground turkey meat. Vegetables always took up less space than the meat.< /p>

Keep Pimpin' that Sleeve!

Here's the video I made describing how much I could eat after VSG surgery.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and can only eat about 2oz of meat and 1tbs of veggies at a meal. But I don't think it's abnormal the portions you stated. My sleeve is probably still a little swollen. I think my nut would like to see me eating that portion for dinner in a couple of weeks. I'll work up to it.

I am 3.5 weeks as well. I don't think is a lot. But I can only eat about 2 oz. I was sleeved on sept 27. I have lost 25 pounds. But I have a lot to lose.

Everyone's stomach size is different. I am 7 weeks out and cannot quite eat that much, but there are others who can.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
