TheNickelMax 26 Posted October 22, 2013 1. I hope everyone is well! 2. I have been feeling pretty down about my self-image recently. I'm a little over three months post VSG and am down 65lbs (and 6" in pants). I've made progress... But am noticing that I'm feeling worse about my appearance than I think I did pre-op. 3. I feel like I've also hit a stall/wall... Have other folks encountered this? I'm changing/tightening up on Water and food to help jump start. I think this pause in progress has also made my self-image negativity worse. 4. I'm going to be trying to find a therapist that specializes in WLS/eating disorders to help me with this transition... But, I'm looking for personal experiences from all of you veterans. Have you noticed a less than positive change in self-image and self-esteem? Have you encountered a stall -- when, what did it seem like? Thanks everyone! N. Sent from my iPhone using VST
Jessica H 79 Posted October 22, 2013 Stay positive! We've all hit stalls, then miraculously drop a few pounds after that. You lose a lot in the first few months and eventually it will slow down. But you have to look at it this way, a loss is a loss, even if it's just one pound. We didn't gain this weight overnight and we certainly can't expect to drop it so quickly. We'd all love to lose 10 lbs a week for months, but the truth is, it won't happen. I've only dropped 9 lbs in 6 weeks, not a huge loss, but I'm very happy with it! Track what you're eating, get in your Protein and exercise! You'll see the scale moving again, hang in there! 1 BethinPA reacted to this

It's super important to take time to focus on what you're grateful for and remember how far you've come. As I am reading blogs from some of the most fit people...they don't weigh, they measure. I'm in a stall right now 3 1/2 weeks out of surgery. I was weighing myself everyday. Not good! Journaling is something I use to get my thoughts out of my head. When I spend time focused on how I am feeling and where I am heading now...it helps me. I do recommend talking to an objective person too. I've hunted through this site for encouragement too. I hope I was helpful to you. Life is a reflection of our internal thoughts. Think good things. You're in control! Best wishes!!!
