1. I hope everyone is well!

2. I have been feeling pretty down about my self-image recently. I'm a little over three months post VSG and am down 65lbs (and 6" in pants). I've made progress... But am noticing that I'm feeling worse about my appearance than I think I did pre-op.

3. I feel like I've also hit a stall/wall... Have other folks encountered this? I'm changing/tightening up on Water and food to help jump start. I think this pause in progress has also made my self-image negativity worse.

4. I'm going to be trying to find a therapist that specializes in WLS/eating disorders to help me with this transition... But, I'm looking for personal experiences from all of you veterans.

Have you noticed a less than positive change in self-image and self-esteem? Have you encountered a stall -- when, what did it seem like?

Thanks everyone!

Stay positive! We've all hit stalls, then miraculously drop a few pounds after that. You lose a lot in the first few months and eventually it will slow down. But you have to look at it this way, a loss is a loss, even if it's just one pound. We didn't gain this weight overnight and we certainly can't expect to drop it so quickly. We'd all love to lose 10 lbs a week for months, but the truth is, it won't happen. I've only dropped 9 lbs in 6 weeks, not a huge loss, but I'm very happy with it! Track what you're eating, get in your Protein and exercise! You'll see the scale moving again, hang in there!

Our thoughts are very powerful. It's super important to take time to focus on what you're grateful for and remember how far you've come. As I am reading blogs from some of the most fit people...they don't weigh, they measure. I'm in a stall right now 3 1/2 weeks out of surgery. I was weighing myself everyday. Not good! Journaling is something I use to get my thoughts out of my head. When I spend time focused on how I am feeling and where I am heading now...it helps me. I do recommend talking to an objective person too. I've hunted through this site for encouragement too. I hope I was helpful to you. Life is a reflection of our internal thoughts. Think good things. You're in control! Best wishes!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
