My surgery date is November 20th! I'm very excited and scared at the same time. Any helpful tips you would like to pass along would be great:)

Congrats, I'm guessing my date will be close to yours, I have my initial appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. This is a very helpful tool for before and after surgery that I found. The info that my dietician gave me is pretty much the same as whats on this site plus more. Hope this helps and much success to you. http://www.muhealth.org/documents/bariatric/bariatric%20booklet%20vsg.pdf

I'm only 3 weeks out so definitely no sleeve expert, but my tips would be:

1) Don't compare yourself to others. As hard as that is, everyone's journey is so unique and personal. It will drive you crazy.

2) Remember to keep your eye on the prize. It gets discouraging when you are in a stall or losing slowly. Just remember, you really won't be the only person the sleeve doesn't work for if you work your sleeve.

3) Get your Water in

4) Get your Protein in

5) Remember to enjoy life. Have fun and start enjoying all the things you missed out on being overweight.

6) Listen to your body. It's a good source of info.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Wishing all our preops the best of luck!

There's a huge list of suggested items to bring to the hospital......I packed very light.....had my phone & toiletries, which I used, had a book which I didn't read--was too busy walking LOL I used two hospital johnies....one worn normally and one as a robe....left my pj's and robe home.

One thing to consider is the clothing you'll wear after being discharged......make sure it is loose--my waist was bigger after surgery than when I went in....the other thing is shoes you can slip in and out of (I brought berkinstocks because they had good support)

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
