becksss 7 Posted October 21, 2013 I've been seeing a lot of people who need to be on liquid diets from about 2-3 weeks prior to their surgery. My doc only requires a 2 day liquid diet. Is that a bad thing?
notime 340 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) No, each doctor seems to have different instructions. I haven't noticed any posts about problems that seem to be related to the instructions given. Edited October 21, 2013 by notime
Carlotta 57 Posted October 21, 2013 I sols suggest u start changing your lifestyle to prepare u for what is to come when u actually have the surgery. I did not have to a diet before surgery..but I am eating about 1000 calories per day, chewing food slowly (nutrtionist told me to cut my food in pea size and chew well) drinking 8 glasses of Water each day, and walking 45 minutes per day etc. btw eating lots of Protein. My surgery is dec 5..I hope to lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks,. Which is doable. I also urge u to get a wonderful book suggested by a sleever on this website..it is call "The emotional first aid kit, a practical guide to life after bariactricpal surgery".. It's a wonderful resources..order it today. The author is Cynthia alexander
macman 603 Posted October 21, 2013 There must be more than one successful way to do VSG based on all the different things people say are required. The NUT told me I would only need to do Clear Liquids one day before surgery.
Kasey Parker 31 Posted October 21, 2013 I was told my doctor does not require a pre op diet but I plan to cut back and start liquids the week prior anyway. They say it helps with recovery time too.
