Hi, I'm almost 4 months post op (6/26/2013) and the weight loss has slowed way down (kind of frustrated). My highest weight was 212 and surgery weight was 188. I am at 146 today and I have about 21 lbs to be at my goal of 125 lbs. I am short only 5'0".

I haven't been exercising as much as I should and I know I need to change that. I just need to get motivated and I am having a hard time doing that. I have gone on a couple of hikes with my husband which I have never been able to do and actually did an 8 mile hike in 2 days a few weeks ago! I was so very proud of myself!

It hasn't been easy, it's hard work making good decisions and I do admit I don't always make good decisions, but it's a work in progress. Getting the sleeve done was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I would do it again in a heart beat. I feel so good and I'm getting my self esteem back. Thanks for listening!

I still can't tolerate cooked broccoli ( or uncooked for that matter). It gives me horrible gas and diarrhea(sorry tmi). I got the ok to start on uncooked veggies but haven't tried yet, I'm a little scared. I haven't tried Beans either and we are going to make chili this weekend, so I will be trying those for the first time. There isn't much I can't tolerate, sweets included. I haven't tried bread or rice either.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
