When did your weight loss slow down/stop?

Recommended Posts

Roughly two months out now, and my weight loss looks like this:

8/19/13 - 343

8/26/13 - 336

9/2/13 - 327

9/9/13 - 319

9/16/13 - 312

9/23/13 - 306

9/30/13 - 302

10/7/13 - 296

10/14/13 - 293

10/21/13 - 293

So, of course, I'm freaking out now. Granted, I had a rough week (drank beer at my college homecoming, didn't eat the best food), but I also started cardio again this past week, so I expected at least... 1lb or something. Even though the food I ate was bad, it was like 5 bites.

You can see the trend - each week is less and less. Is this a "stall" that I keep hearing about? Should I be freaking out? Help me put my mind at ease. I mean, I am still like 50-60lbs overweight. I better not be done already!

You're just about due for your first plateau. Keep on it, it will start coming off again!

After the first couple of months, I never saw that 5+ pounds lost in a week again, but I'm getting there, slowly, but surely.

It's a journey.....it's a bummer when there is a week with no loss, but you will catch up. You may have just caught your weighing at a time when you were holding Water or needed to have a BM or whatever. I found throughout the journey that I would have a no loss week (but no gain) or lose just a pound and the next week I would lose double my normal loss, it was usually just catching the scale and the wrong time.

Before you know it you will be 6 - 8 months out and be like, "Wow, when did I lose all this weight." Keep at it, enjoy the journey along the way. I special event is SPECIAL, don't beat yourself up for it. Get back on your normal routine again and keep on keepin' on!

BREATHE!! Don't freak out - you have a long road ahead. Sometimes your body has to slow down and take a breather and catch up with your weight loss. It's normal and actually healthy for this to happen.

If you think it's something you're doing/not doing, try tracking for a week or so. You might be taking in more carbs than you think or less Protein than you need. Hang in there!

As I have said many times on this forum...this is a marathon, not a sprint. I always think I am a slow loser, but I am 10 1/2 months out and I am down 95 lbs...almost 10 lbs a month. When have I ever been that successful? NEVER!!! The key is to keep this whole journey in perspective or you'll drive yourself crazy!

I had no issues drinking beer. The only difference was I drank it much slower.

I definitely have an issue getting in all my Protein. It's tough because there isn't alot of real estate for all the Protein shakes, and Water, and food etc! Gym days it's easier because I'm so conditioned to do my pre and post-workout shakes.< /p>

Thanks for the assurances everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
