Any Washington State Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I also had mine done at PSSC. The care I received was above and beyond my expectations. The anesthesiologist was the most compassionate, gentle, kind man. He actually took my face in his hands, and talked me to sleep..told me to imagine a beach, it was just amazing. My nurses were phenominal, I actually brought them gifts at my 1 week post op. My surgeon was Dr. Landerholm, I love him. He treats you like a person, not a child.

I have had zero complications, I was kept comfortable, I was able to meet my Protein goals right away. Fluids are occasionally a struggle, and when you start introducing more solid foods, it's challenging.

I haven't experienced any rude behavior at PSSC. :) I started going there in October 2013. I also have 2 good friends that were sleeved there.

Glad you had a good experience there, I'm very pleased with all the care and services I got at NWWLS.

They we're wonderful to my husband and children, keeping them posted all along the way and letting them stay with me past visiting hours. The night nurse knew I couldn't sleep cause I'd never spent a night without my husband, and kept coming into my room to see if I needed anything or wanted to talk.

That's service I consider above & beyond.

Mine will be at PSSC. How are you feeling so far? I'm nervous about those first few weeks....

I had the same kind of experience at pssc, my hubs was kept in the loop the whole time. The night nurse let my parents, brothers, sister in law, and son in, way after visiting hours. I never waited for pain meds, they were all given on time, or for help to get up, to potty, or walk. I slept a lot of the time, but I was being given Dilaudid, Valium, Torodol, and something for nausea. I was very comfortable, yet still able to cruise the halls every 3-4 hours. It's so important we are comfy, and feel safe! They don't overbook, there were 2 night nurses, and 2 patients. I had to call early in the morning on a sunday, and the on call doc returned my call immediately. I feel like they are very on top of everything.

Jenbaby....thanks so much for sharing your experience. That is so great to hear. I have been really happy with my experience so far - everyone has been very kind and helpful. It's hard to believe that I am only 10 days away. This has been a very difficult decision, but I feel like I am on my way to a new, healthier me. So glad to hear about your positive experience!

Susie..don't stress! It was such an easy procedure, less than 45 min! They will keep you comfortable after. Yes, there is some discomfort, take your painmeds as prescribed for the 1st 4 days. Sip, sip, sip. Have some clear chicken broth, sugar free Jello, and pudding made. Sugar free popsicles are good. :) try not to over do activity. Rest as much as you can the first few days. If you need someone to chat with, let me know!

Just a reminder for anyone in Tacoma area - our next meetup is scheduled for this coming Weds, March 25th at Panara's in the Tacoma Mall at 7:00 pm. This group is very relaxed and fun. No agenda, just time spent with others who are thinking about, scheduled for, or have had WLS. This informal gathering is for those seeking friendships with others who share the common bond of WLS. Each week our group gatherings get more people who come to join us. All are welcome!

The next meetup in Gig Harbor is scheduled for April 8th at Panara's in Uptown Gig Harbor at 7PM.

Come join us at either or both locations!

I wish I could, I'm training from 10:30-7:30 Monday thru Friday

Feel free to stop by after your training. We are usually there til 9:00. Probably would be there longer if they did not close at 9:00. ⏰.

Hello everyone, I had my surgery two days ago at PSSC with Dr Kaufman. I probably researched who and were to have the surgery with, the people, facilities and the aftercare program is what sold me to choose them.

I spent one night and returned home yesterday morning, was a little nervous, but it was just fine. I am learning how much to sip to avoid being uncomfortable, the gas pains are still there a little, not getting behind on the meds is key for my comfort.

I am just finding my way around this site and I am happy to see that it is full of positive and encouraging fellow Sleevers.

I look forward to reading your posts,

J.R.

Welcome JR,

Glad you are recovering well.

There is a WLS support/meet up happening in the Bothell area. Not sure where you are from. It's meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday, although we are skipping Easter Sunday figuring most will be busy. We meet at The Den Coffeehouse at 3pm. More details to follow. In fact a poll will follow.....

I will see what I can do to make it, it will be nice to put a person to the name. I also saw at the Shoreline PSSC they have a support group the 3rd Tues of every month fro 6-7.

Suzy, keep the low carb diet going, Dr said it made my surgery so much easier for both of us.

JR-

I am hanging in there on the low carb diet. It has gotten easier as I have gotten farther into it. Only 6 more days to go for me. I'm hoping to starting attending the PSSC support group in April - I've heard great things about it.

I am in the Seattle area. I was a band to sleeve revision and a big fan of PSSC - Drs Landerholm and Billing changed my life!

Looking forward to my sleeve on April 15 with Dr. Billings. Almost there...

Do you join any of the outings with their group?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
