sick of not loosing

Recommended Posts

Plateaus are totally normal! Don't be discouraged. Your body is accessing the next amount of adipose tissue, holding Water, making muscle, and regulating hormones. It WILL start coming off again. Stick to the exercise, and the food regimen. Also- too few calories puts your body in starvation mode, and you won't loose anything. Make sure you are eating enough food, and get your Protein in!

Good luck!

I was curious why the scale wasn't moving yet I had lost two inches in my hips. Even though I'm not too good about exercise, I make sure I get at least 70 gms of Protein a day. What I read said that even without exercising you can gain muscle when eating a lot of Protein. Since muscle weighs more than fat, I was losing inches although not losing weight.

I kept doing what I was doing and the scale finally moved.

Hang in there!!

I am just over 3 weeks out. My stall lasted for 10 days. I weighed on Friday and then this morning. I lost 5 pounds. Your body just has to have time to catch up. I'm also in the 300 pound range. Don't panic!

I am 3 weeks post op..lost steadily for the first 2, then went up 2 lbs and have been stuck there for 3 days. Isn't it too early to hit a plateau. Doing everything according to the book, but am very depressed about this stall.

There are as many ways to get from point a to point b as there are people. I'm a slow loser but I am happy I am losing. If I were younger, more fit, a different metabolism, but I'm me and this is how I lose.

I was sleeved 10/2. I was 230 at high weight, 222 day of surgery. I'm "only" down to 194 today. I've stalled 3 times, for 12+ days each time. I'd kill to have lost as much as you did. And btw, I stick to the plan very tightly.

Don't compare yourself to people who have different amounts to lose, who are younger, who are male, etc. you're doing just fine as long as you're following your plan.

When i would have a stall (before surgery on different diets), I would intentionally eat bad for a day or two. I would add a few more carbs and then start again. It always worked. Bottom line is your body adjusts to what you are doing after a while.

I wish I kept the article someone posted on there a few months ago it was very interesting and stated that it takes 4.4pounds of Water to burn one pound! That is why you will lose inches but not weight for a week or two and then one day see a 3-4 pound drop! I am a little over 3 months out and have had a weight stalls! I was weighing every day!!! I was depressing so I stopped now I weight every so often nothing consistent and I am still losing and doing awesome!!!

I was sleeved on 10/7 how=221; sw=210 cw=198.8

Ia just started week four and follow the plan religiously. Thought I would have lost at least 10 lbs more. Suffered a 1 week stall where I went back up to 200, now am at 198.8. So frustrating..I just want to see the results faster than what I am seeing now.

Good to know. I too need to stop weighing every day, which is part of the frustration.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
