Congrats to you and everyone on your WLS!!!

By far very interesting moodiest and hilarious post. Had me intrigued!! ???????????????? great sense of humors!!!

To answer your question, only my husband and 2 son's know. I haven't shared with anyone and when I asked my boss for time off, I sent her an email requesting 3 to 4 weeks off for medical attention. She responded back stating, I was approved and well wishes.

I'm not in the mental phase of thinking or worrying about what ppl will see, think or ask. I will determine that decision when it's presented. My life and health and family are my priority

Just confirmed surgery date yesterday, it will be on 11/15/13. My emotions are out of control today, and glad I came I came across your post

Thank you everyone!! : )

I disagree with you completely. I find it quite offensive that several people here find my desire to keep my decision private reflective of "shame"' date=' see it as a "lie", say that I am "hiding", etc. My decision to have WLS surgery was a very personal one. I was not defined by my fat before and I will NOT be defined my my surgery now. I do not feel like discussing my weight loss, my diet, my restrictions, the process, etc. with everyone who is curious, who just doesn't understand, who knows someone who had it, who has a mother/brother/bff/cousin's neighbor's girlfriend's cat's vet who is thinking about it, etc. I don't feel that I need to be the topic of every conversation about dieting nor do I want to be watched under a microscope just because I've done something that people do not understand nor are familiar with. I've told the people who need to know, I've told the people who I want to know and I've told a few random people who I thought would be helped by the information. I feel no need to tell anyone else, any more than I feel the need to shout to the world that I am on my period, that I pooped all over the delivery table with my second child, that my left boob is a half a size bigger than my right, etc. It's MY body and I will not allow those of you who decide to tell your story to the world make me feel bad about choosing not to.[/quote']

I agree. It's a very personal decision. I've heard too many comments from people that haven't dealt with a life time of weight issues, that I just need to watch what I eat and exercise! They feel WLS is the easy way out. I'll pass and keep this one to myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
