hello everyone :) it`s a pleasure to meet you all *group hugs*

just found this site by chance while cruising the internet for information on abdominoplasty surgeries... health issues from diabetis and a fallen bladder have put me in a predicament where 3 doctors are suggesting surgery to remove the apron of fatty tissue in order to quickly affect these concerns...i find myself worried since my weight is still hovering at 220 pounds (loss of 55 pounds previously).

i`m worried about being rushed into a situation that may not be the right one ...i`m hovering between the fact that even after surgery i will still be overweight, and wondering if further weight loss may be a better first time approach.

dilemna dilemna...lol..life just never is easy is it!!

reading all your forums here, has given me food for thought..your stories of struggle and success have been an inspiration that has left me more confused then before.

i was wondering if there are any other fellow canadians from the province of Ontario (near toronto)..that have had the lapband done that can refer me to a link or doctors site that they would recommend. (and also discuss the prices or ohip coverage available for the procedure)

thank you in advance for your time and understanding.

**keep your heads up strong and proud, for you are all venturing a path as terrifying and as rewarding as one can take!! Good Luck!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
