I'm taking a trip to Sam's Club soon. My surgery is on November 20. My pre and post op diet does NOT include Protein shakes. My surgeon (at a Center for Excellence) prefers you get food into you as soon as possible, with a low carb high Protein diet beforehand and a pureed diet for two weeks post-op.

That being said, can you guys post some suggestions for what I should put on my Sam's Club shopping list?

Any veggies that can be soft cooked, eggs, tunafish, fish, etc. You're fortunate. I have to do Clear Liquids for two weeks with Protein Shakes.< /p>

I buy mini Bon cheese, Premier Protein ready made shakes, it has 30 grams of Protein, almonds, tuna, turkey, ground chicken, etc. Good luck to you.

I was not allowed to start purees until week 5 post-op. You'll find that every program is very different. Just follow your surgeon's plan.

My favorite is refried Beans with melted cheddar cheese. I did puree it for the two weeks I was on purees. Another new favorite is Kroger greek cream cheese & greek yogurt spread. Carbmaster yogurt is good & has more Protein & less carbs than regular or "lite" yogurts. I did try plain greek yogurt & added sugar-free Torani, DaVinci or Walden Farms syrups but it was too watery. I checked the flavored ones but they have too many carbs.

Does anyone buy their Vitamins there as well?

I just saw that they have canned roast beef....I wonder how that tastes pureed?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
