When will i get my energy back?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks post op. I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day in. I typically get 45-50 oz of Water. I am tired and not very motivate. I go back to work tomorrow which will require tons of energy. What to do?

Have you been walking or doing other exercises? Also, you might try to increase your fluids some. How may calories are you getting per day?

i agree with doing some exercise. on the days i go for a walk or two, i definitely feel better and more energized. i also sleep less and still wake up feeling refreshed.

I vary with calories. 500-800. It depends. I do walk about .75 miles 5 times a week. I am pretty active. I.e going to the grocery store. Watching nephews swim meets. I just get tired easily. I do have complex carbs I am Definatly not ready for bread/pasta

I will continue to keep on trucking. :) thanks

Crazy pants, maybe that could help. I noticed my multi Vitamin does not have Iron. What kind of iron tablet do you take? How much?

Is a weekly B12 supplement part of your Vitamin regime?

Then my guess would be Iron, but you should call your doc for sure. That's what we paid them all that money for! :)

Ohh good suggestion on the b12! I have started B12 injections every two weeks because I also have a family history of low b12.

I just checked my Iron bottle and it doesn't have a mg amount on the front. The back label shows it has Iron 50mg and Calcium too. I just got it from the corner drugstore.

Calcium within two hours can cancel out any Iron taken. So you should be careful to space it out. I don't know how much it does, but I avoid all during that space, including any in any Protein Drinks or anything else I eat.

To get you energy up, I would recommend that you stick closer to the 800 calorie range. Also, how much Protein do you get?

It's great that you're walking 5 times a week. .75 miles is probably around 15 minutes, so I encourage you to work your way up to perhaps 45 minutes of walking in each session if you have the time. Walking really helps boost your energy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
