Ann1002 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I was banded on 3/1/07 and came home from the hospital yesterday. I feel great with the exception of EXTREME neck pain. Almost like a kinked neck - but worse than I've ever felt before. My nurse told me it's excess gas from surgery. Did anyone else have extreme neck pain and if so - what did you do about it? HELP! rondajs 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I have not been banded yet, but I did read that if it is on the left side, it is the contraindications of the Carbon Dioxide that was used to inflate you during your procedure. The affects will wear off in about 4 days to a week. Hope this helps.
MCOBandita 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I was banded on 2/20 and had gass pain that got progressively worse after the surgery. I started noticing it on Day 4 and it got so painful it hurt to breathe. :think I walked, took Gas-X, Rolaids for Gas, hung out with a heating pad...nothing helped. Unfortunately, I just had to wait it out. I had read an old post on here saying some ladies dealt with residual gas pain for up to two weeks post op. I consider myself lucky mine only lasted 10 days! I feel for you!
LeeInDe. 0 Posted March 5, 2007 My pain was under my left rib cage, and up into the left side of my neck. I lasted 1 week and 2 days. It got progressively worse as the days went by. It did come and go. After 8 days, my husband called the nurse in charge of the office, and she told me to go back on the pain meds, and that seemed to help. My doctor told me that he felt it might be from some drainage that seeped up, and was irritating the phrenic nerve, that runs along the diaphragm, (since it was lasting so long.) It is gone now, but do have an occasional twinge.
Dagonzal 0 Posted March 5, 2007 I was banded on 2/28 and I tried all of the above as well. I found that if I laid on my left side (with a pillow under my tummy, since that is the really sore side) it helped. I don't know if it moves the gas or what but it seemed to work. I also found that Milk of Magnesia worked much better for me than the Gas-X. Be careful how much you take, it can have you running (or walking very quickly) to the restroom.
