3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!

Recommended Posts

I feel so horrible.

I am a self sabotaging masochist!

This afternoon, I went out with a friend, and she really wanted to go to this one restaurant, so we went, and I thought "I'll be fine". But next thing I know, I eat 3 spoons of her fettuccine with shrimp, I have 2 spoons of lobster bisque, and we got a free dessert because we received bad service! And guess what?! I thought I'd take a bite off that chocolate lava cake too!

I get home right after, and throw everything up!!! Ughhh, it was SO uncomfortable!

But you think that would be it, but my brother orders pizza tonight, and AGAIN, as if nothing happened this afternoon, I eat a slice! I didn't throw up this time, but I spent the last 30mins feeling so uncomfortable!

I can only think right now of how much I hate myself. After all I did for this, I just kept hurting myself today! I just want to cry! :-(

Get back on the wagon! Don't beat yourself up about it, but realize you really can't do that... If you find you cannot control your eating issues, please seek help from a professional! Eating disorders are not all about anorexia and bulemia.

Good luck to you!

You don't need to feel mentally horrible too! Just take it as a learning experience. Now you know! Make tomorrow a brand new day. You can do this! :)

It's so hard. I know. Take some time to go deep and figure out why you are making those decisions. It's hard facing our food addiction AND mourning the loss of our fav foods for quite a while. I try to find things that are yummy, but healthy. Shrimp being one of them. I can eat 6 medium grilled. I chew the hell out of the. I'm 3 weeks post Op too.

You can do this! When I was feeling like this once I read a post where someone said JUST STOP DOING THAT. Just do better tomorrow. Everyone on this journey makes mistakes and all you can do is just do better next time. Having said all of that; remember that you are still healing, so PLEASE be really careful as you don't want to cause yourself any serious harm by damaging your new sleeve. Your stomach is in a pretty delicate state and you need to take really good care of it.

I'm 3wks in and had similar experiences! I had to realize I am still healing and I needed to stay away from restaurants and keep those goods out of the house. People need to support you and maybe eat the pizza away from you. Family and friends want to feed you it's hard to resist! My doctor suggested that every hour take 2 bites of something to eat. Maybe a few more weeks all I'd the promises of not being hungry all the time will kick in

Just use it as a learning experience and next time you are tempted, remember what happened last time. I know I'll have a few moments like this myself once I get sleeved. I usually learn what makes me sick and stay away!

3 weeks out!! Yikes!! You can seriously hurt/damage your stomach. You really need to get in focus and remember why you got this surgery. If you don't do so now, you will NOT be successful. This surgery requires you to change your eating/exercising habits for life...................there is no turning back now, maybe a psychologist would help. Good Luck to you.

Hardly anyone on this site will admit it but we've all been there. We all test our sleeves to see what it will handle.

Last nite we went to Hometown Buffet. I filled my plate and took 1 bite of each thing. 8 bites total. I even took 1 bite of 3 different Desserts. I didn't beat myself up for it cuz I live in the REAL world, where we eat what everyone else eats.

I did notice how many obese people eat there tho. Never really noticed it before. The table next to us had about 8 people, the least weighing in at about 230. They went back again, again, and again. It amazed me. I was satisfied with my 1 bite of each thing I loved.

Got on the scale this morning and I lost 1 lb! Yeah! Hometown Buffet and I actually lost 1 lb. Amazing....

Just pick yourself up and quit beating yourself up. Ur gunna eat pizza, Pasta, bread, and other "taboo" foods. It's great just being able to eat a couple bites of it tho, isn't it?

Thats what I luv about my sleeve.

Wow, didn't even notice ur only 3 weeks out. I take back all that I said about eating in the real world. I was still on full liquids at 3 weeks and I was scared of eating Jello because it was so solid. Went into soft foods at week 4-8. Started eating bread, Pasta, etc after 8 weeks.

So, forget what I said about not beating urself up. U should kick urself in the butt and go back to ur prescribed diet until ur healing tummy can handle real food. Bad, bad girl (or guy...)

((HUGS - after that little bashing!))

Lol, thanks. I have been kicking myself in the butt all day. I got punished a second time too, it wasn't over for me after vomiting after the restaurant; after that pizza, I spent a good amount of time running back and forth to the bathroom. Ugh. I hope I learned my lesson. It was fun while I was eating, but then I was miserable the rest of the time, which is kind of how I would describe my way of eating in the past, so I'm mostly scared of going back to that; eating and then regretting. I have gone back to liquid diet today, just because I'm a bit scared since yesterday I guess... *sigh*

By the way, I noticed you mentioned you were still on liquids at 3 weeks. Isn't it just weird that my surgeon got me on soft food already on day 3 postoperative? I didn't do it though, I stayed on puréed a little longer....

If you can't control your urges, then you need to seek some help and don't put yourself in situations that can create opportunities for slipping up.

It's be like a recovering crack addict going to a crack den. I personally am pre-op and I don't go to a restaurant unless I know there is something I can eat without deviating from my daily macros and diet.

Beleive me I don't want to be "a holier than thou"person.

I am just a chicken and do NOT WANT TO DUMP, OR THROW UP.

my doctor is very Conservitive. And I like that. I beleive it will keep me safe, healthy and sucessful.

I an 2 1/2 weeks out. Doing well. Had a meeting with nutritionist

At 2 week mark.

. MY instructions ( I know every doctor is different) are liquids for 4 weeks, Mush for 4 weeks and no red meats or fatty fish for 4 more weeks. Basically January first.

It just makes sense to me to follow the rules.

I DO try to put my self in challenging situations.... And to conquer them. Went to. Bar today to see my nephew the DJ. Had a Virgin Mary. ..... Mindlessly started to eat the garnish. Caught my self and spit it out..

I lost 40 pounds Pre-op. people said to me....if you can do that you do not need surgery.

My response was. I do. Before surgery I Could go pig out. After surgery....... There is a painful price to pay for a pig out.

I hope this helps. Stay strong.. You CAN DO IT.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
