Ok, ok how many weeks before soft food? Confused!

Recommended Posts

My doc first said 2 days liquid, 3 weeks full liquid and 3 weeks puréed, then start soft foods. Now she said they changed it to 2 days liquid, 2 weeks full liquid , 2 weeks puréed and then soft. What was your regimen per docs orders?

Well first of all...I pray your doing well and with minimal discomfort. Congratulations on hopping to the post side of this journey. I was sleeved 10/10/13 and my cravings are ridiculous...but the fact remains that if I actually ate what I craved I could only stomach a bite or two lol. But I still want this liquid misery to be over star! Be well!! :)

Im on full liquids for 2 weeks then pureed foods for 2 weeks. Probably best to get in touch with your doctor and explain they gave you 2 different sets of instructions and which they want you to follow

Thanks so much...they told me to follow the 2-2 yesterday but I wanted to hear the many differences since they changed it. I guess it boils down to a definite 2 or 3 week minimum for liquids (hunches) I'm just happy I'm not on 3-3 as that would ruin my vacation :)

I was on soft foods along with purees/mushies and liquids from the first week - scrambled eggs and yogurt along with Jello and broths in the hospital and progressing as tolerated from there.

I thought, just like you, wow sooo many variances. From what I've read so far is we need to be I tuned with on bodies. I've tried some stuff and it's made me gag. Others things I have to watch because they taste so good I have almost over ate, like grilled shrimp. I can eat 6, not 7. I chewed that sucker up, but it didn't go down for an hour. :-).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
