I had a pretty rough recovery, but was back at my desk job on day 10 with no problems. If you have to bend, squat or lift stuff over 10lbs, I'd say it will take longer to get back to work.

With a desk job, I've heard that a couple of weeks is OK. I have a more physical demanding job. Not super demanding but can't have any restrictions. I was told I will probably need to take 4 weeks off if not more. If I have to have my gall bladder out as well, I won't feel as bad about missing that much work. Everyone is so, so different!

I took off 8 weeks but I am a labor and delivery nurse. I do a lot of my work hanging on to women's feet and trying to push babies out into the world. I believe if a person can you should take off a month. There can be pain issues the first couple of weeks post op. Also your energy level goes up and down day to day because of the types of food you are restricted to in this time. After about the first 4 weeks thing start to level off you feel better, usually have lost some weight and can be positive about your journey. The tool you have created has to be used and driven around the block. Sometimes it takes this month to get the hang of driving. It is easier to practice IATA home then try and learn in front of co workers. Not that they are bad but it is easier to face them with having control over your tool. Hang in they one and all. This week I joined the 100 club! I have lost 102 as of being sleeved. May 1st of this year! High five to all

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
