How Long for Sex?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new around here and am scheduled for my sleeve on Friday. Do any of you guys know how long I need to wait to have sex after the surgery? I'm not worried about the exertion (my lady will handle the "workload" for as long as necessary) but I'm worried about how my stomach muscles contract when I get to the "end."

Thx!

I know my surgeon said when I was ready but watch the stomach area. My wife was sleeved a week before I was and had sex two days after she got home. After I was sleeved she wanted sex the day I got home but we waited until the next day. Just take it easy and you'll be fine.

Sounds like whenever you feel ready must be the surgeon's universal answer because I was told the same thing. Was told not to carry around our then 9 month old son for a week, but sex as okay as soon as I felt up to it. Not sure the wife was buying off on both of those time frames. LOL

I was sleeved on February 3rd. Released to go home on the 5 the and had sex that night. Slow motion but it counts. Lol.

I waited for a few weeks. Not because of the surgery. Because over the past couple years, sex was awkward and difficult from being overweight. The wife and I really did not have a very active sex life.

Now after losing a bunch of weight. Things are much better.

But on the original question, 3 weeks here and had no issues. But I am sure if you take it easy a week or two sooner may be ok.

I had surgery 4-2-14 and had sex yesterday 4-6-14. It wasn't amazing acrobatic sex but still felt good. We were careful and made sure he didn't put any weight on me. It didn't hurt at all except just a little (scale of 1-10 would've been a 2) when I got there just from tightening my stomach muscles. But the after felt so good I didn't mind the little twinge of pain. In fact I felt better the rest of the day than I had since I left the hospital.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
