Hello everybody!! I had surgery on 8-22-13 after debating for a lot of years because I was afraid but I'm glad I got it over with finally. Everything went great no pain at all the only bad thing that happened to me was that I had a bad rash below my abdomen and my dermatologist gave me a cream that I was allergic to and I got completely burned and I developed a bacteria in which I had to take a lot of antibiotics and it made me so nauseaus that it was very difficult for me to eat anything its been already 3 weeks that I finished the antibiotic and still every food that I used to love before disgusses me, I'm only eating Quacke. Grits mashed potato Water melon grapes and other fruits and also Protein Shake on the other hand I really don't know what to eat I would really like if somebody would give me like a sample menu so I can have an idea of what to eat because the instructions that I have from the dietician doesn't really help me much because I see that a lot of you guys eat eggs and on the paper that I have it says to eat egg whites how much creative can you be with egg whites only. Please help me in giving me an idea, on the other hand I have lost 45 lbs. But I haven't started excersizing yet for me its kind of hard because I'm not used it but I guess I'll have to do it sooner or later. Wish you all the best and with good health!!!

Thank you so much in advance for your help!!!

I eat the full egg?? Is your cholesterol high? I have never been told to only eat the white. I love refried Beans, guacamole, I eat a lot of cheese (I LOVE CHEESE), tacos (meat/cheese/sour cream/beans), Peanut Butter, chicken, pretty much any kind of beans, roast (cooked til it falls apart), spaghetti/meat sauce, broccoli, Soups, etc...I can't really think of anything else right now...but if it's soft meat, I eat it. And if it's high Protein, I eat it.

Hi, thanks for replying!!! When I was getting ready for surgery and I had my lab work done my cholesterol was fine, and the manual that they give to follow is a general information for everybody that gets surgery but now on my second visit to my doctor in which I had to do lab work again my cholesterol went up the doctor says its fine because my body is fueling my fat. So I'm kind of afraid to eat eggs now, how long has it been since your surgery that you're eating almost anything??? And did you at some point stopped losing lbs??? I weighed myself today and I haven't lost any lbs since 10-09-13 that I went to the doctor!!! I'm worried!!!!!

I'm six, almost seven weeks out. I had a stall but it's moving again...apparently stalls are part of it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
