Hey everyone I hope Friday has been awesome. I am three weeks out and having a terrible time with Protein. Protein Shakes my stomach so bad as well as the liquid whey drinks. I can't handle them. I had a few sips of a Protein Shake at 7 this morn and my stomach still kills. I talked to doc and he says eggs, cheese and yogurt. I said all this just to ask how does everyone cook there eggs? Did you have to purée them? I have never been a huge fan of eggs but I am willing to try anything at this point. Thanks in advance! I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Try a very soft scramble. They should be shiny and wet looking not dry a crumbly. Add skim milk to the them when you whisk them to loosen them up a bit. You can add a bit if cheese, too!

Refried Beans are good at your stage as is hummus, Greek yogurt, guacamole, cream soups...

I don't have to purée scrambled eggs and I'm on the pureed stage. I'd check with the dr if u are concerned but you should be fine. I haven't tried eggs yet but I'm excited to!

Thanks! I know it's a silly question. I know how to cook eggs but everyone does something different all the time. I am currently about to make home made hummus and I can't wait.

You can make a poached egg or a boiled egg and mash it finely with a fork. At first you may not be able to eat the whole portion. For some bizarre reason scrambled egg made me feel a little sick.. I was ok with the other two options.

I couldn't do a harder cooked white for a long time. In fact, I am just five months and the white of a hard boiled egg still sticks sometimes. I can do an over easy egg now, but that's new to me.

when i was on pureed food, the only way i was allowed to have my eggs was poached or "softly cooked/runny". i wasn't allowed scrambled eggs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
