3 days after surgery and im hungry...

Recommended Posts

It happens. Some people feel hunger and some don't. I am one of those who did feel it. Just stay focused and sip sip sip. Hydration is so important right now.

I'm with you. I'm only 11 days out and I kept hearing from people how I wasn't supposed to be hungry, yet I had to keep telling my stomach that over and over again. Hang in there - for me it passed and I just got dairy products today. I was never so thrilled with a cup of yogurt in my life!

Your stomach needs time to heal from surgery....take in fluids (clear)....I am sipping Gatorade and it's been good so far! The smells of food are great but I know eating right now will do more harm than good....hang in there!

I'm only the clear liquids diet part and I have to say I'm having hunger pains. Is this normal or am I just thirsty??? I'm trynna stay strong but it's sooo hard when your tummy is rumbling and food is everywhere.

I completely understand! I'm 4 days post op & I'm having the worst hunger pains. I'm on the liquid diet & after being kept in the hospital for 1 extra day for nausea & not eating, I'm afraid to eat. I'm trying to keep hydrated but the hunger is so bad I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

You didnt do anything wrong! My nurse in the hospital had the sleeve done a year ago and she said she was super nauseous for a few weeks post op. Hang in there! Try soups! Tomato , cream of chicken etc... they help with the hunger.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
