Recommended Posts

lol i never seen the operating room lmao. all i remember seeing is the needle going to my iv in pre op and then i woke up in my room. Was in quite a bit of pain but that was just the gas they used during surgery. My stomach felt normal lmao weird i know.

Kind of like that. I've been under general a few times, and for me, it's not exactly like waking up from a sleep. Usually, you've actually been awake for a little while before becoming alert and more aware of your surroundings. For me, I remember being awake, then I'm aware of being awake again, though still groggy, and I don't remember any if the going to sleep/being asleep/waking from sleep part. I take a great deal of comfort knowing the anesthesiologist or CRNA monitors me and my vitals during surgery, then a recovery nurse monitors me following. The loss of physical control is something I don't love, but I take comfort knowing someone is right there and responsible for me throughout.

I haven't had this surgery yet, but I've had several others. It doesn't feel like any time has passed, but you wake up with people telling you it's over. You feel sleepy and groggy, and that's it as far as the anesthesia goes. As far as the sleeve goes--I can't wait myself!

I don't even remember them putting me to sleep. I woke up super groggy on my way to the recovery room. I fell back to sleep and woke up in my hospital room. I pretty much slept the whole day after surgery but hadn't slept a full night 3 night prior due to anxiety. The nurses would come in and take my vitals but let me sleep.

I haven't had this surgery yet but I've had 2 others. Unfortunately I wake up very nauseated and last time woke up with a raging headache too. They told be I won the award for the worst recovery! Yay me! Lol. I'm hoping this time will be better but either way, it will be worth it for me.

Waking up sucked. There were like 5 thousand people moving me hooking me up to things, trying to get me to talk. Imagine waking up and everyone is going a thousand miles an hour and you're going 2 I remember being wheeled down the hallway and the nurse squeezing something into my IV and saying your going to feel really good in a minute. I said back "I'm staring to feel great" next thing I know I'm being woken up.

Me saying, "OK, when are we going to start" and the nurse saying, "You are done."

I always like to tell this story, 'cause it makes me laugh. The aesthetician asked me to count backwards from 100, so I started counting.

100

ohhh, my throat hurts!

I woke up from surgery still counting. My throat hurt from being intubated and they gave me a sponge thingy to suck on which relieved the throat thing a bit. Shot of pain meds and I was all good!

when I had ear surgery, I came to in the recovery room and was like, "who the heck is screaming?" and then realized, 'oh, that's me".

Ask for the behind the ear patch. Made a huge difference for me.

The behind the ear patch comes in a pack of three. I put one on the night before surgery and changed it every 3 day til they were gone. Absolutely no nausea at all. Highly recommend. Good luck

I think you've gotten some really good answers here. It's mostly just like waking up from sleep, except that when you wake up from sleep you can become very aware of what's going on around you. When you wake up from the anesthesia, you can come to anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, then drift off again, then come to again, etc. You may just wake up and be awake from then on, or you may drift off several times. Also the anesthesia has a little bit of a side effect for giving you some short term amnesia, so that later that day or the next day you may not remember the waking up process very well. This happens to some people but not others.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
