That is one thing I wish I knew before my sleeve. It is totally normal but incredibly frustrating! It happened to me as well, it took two weeks to get it moving again, but it's moving down!! I'm 6 weeks out!

My surgeon's staff forewarned me that week 3 & 4 they call the "lost weeks" because patients tend to not lose any weight. It's still frustrating... but at least I know that it's normal and OK. I figure if I lose any at all then I'm ahead of the game!

I'm glad I found this site because no one warned me that this would happen. I think it should be mentioned in one of the many classes we had to attend. I think I'm going to mention this to my nurse when she calls next week.

all I can think at 2 weeks out is, I have gone through all of this for 15 pounds? it is depressing. I just keep on going and hope it changes. I know you are all saying it will - but it is hard to believe it.

It will. Just be patient, follow your program, and stay off the scale.

Thank you, I do understand - but it is so difficult. very challenging, and every little noise my family makes is driving me mad. :-) must be the hormones I've heard about.

Hi I had mine on 24th Feb 2016, and I have lost 7 kgs in total. 4 kgs from the day of surgery... N now it has stalled since 1 week! :( I also get the feeling that Hv I gone through all this for only 4 kgs!

I also wonder is my low BMI 37 one of the reasons?

Im feeling hopeful after reading this post ... And waiting for that day when my graph starts showing downward slope..

This absolutely happened to me at this same time and I even wrote a post on here too. I'm now 4 weeks post op and just now starting to see the scale move again. In my 2-3 week period I would gain a lb, loose a lb and it was so frustrating. So, I understand. But give it a week or two and you will see it start dropping again!

I'm 42 lbs down (including my pre-op diet loss) so it does get better! :)

Stop. Stop. Stop. At two weeks out, your body has ONE goal: heal from surgery. It grabs on to every bit of nourishment it can so rebuild tissues. Don't expect to see much more than Fluid shift and initial losses from a drastic reduction in calories until you're a month out. The real healing point is between 4 and 6 weeks, no matter what you feel like. that's when you are healed enough to really get serious with the weight loss.

I am 19 days out and I, too, have stalled. Just when I was finally hitting my Fluid and Protein intake. I try not to weigh myself too often, but every few days I get curious. I almost feel as if I constantly have something in my mouth, whether it's my Water bottle, yogurt, shake, etc.

I will take the advice of those who are further out than me and relax. I will get past this and hopefully soon, I can post another loss. :)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
