Protein drinks without fake sweeteners?

Recommended Posts

I have only found one product so far that isn't made with sucrulose or aspartame or any of those nasty, migraine-inducing, fake sweeteners. It's made by Jay Robb and it's an egg white powder made with Truvia. And it's expensive.

Does anyone have other suggestions?

I believe that now foods has an egg white Protein. It is available plain which has nothing but the egg white. It is also available in a vanilla cream flavor that has stevia as it's only artificial sweetener. It also contains xylitol, which is a natural sweetener.

I have no experience with either of the following vendors, but their websites do sell the products.

There's also a product called ISONatural.

I'm a fan of the Jay Robb whey Protein and yes they are pricey. I also just bought Optinum Nutrition 100% Natural in chocolate and it's pretty decent ( I add hazelnut sugar free Syrup and instant expresso powder to make a morning mocha). It's also a little cheaper since its huge container. Both are sold in Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>

About Time is my favorite - GNC often has a sale where you can get each one for about $21.

Syntrax has a 'naturals' line, but not positive about what those flavors do/do not contain. The description says no artificial sweeteners, though. :-)

I am using Optimum whey Gold Standard "Natural" Whey. It must say "natural" in the title because they do use Sucralose in some of their other whey powders. The vanilla is sweetened with evaporated Cane juice and only has 3 grams of sugar and 26 grams of Protein and 130 calories. I just purchased another one of their shakes that is called Oats and Whey. It is chocolate milk flavored and it really does taste like chocolate milk. It has 4 grams of Fiber, 200 calories and 23 grams of protein. Very good. I really don't care for the taste of Stevia. Hope this helps :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
