Scar Tissue or Adhesions Pre-op

Recommended Posts

I hope I'm posting this question is the right place. I filled out the pre-op paperwork for Dr Garcia in Mexico and got my quote. I was honest as to having three C-sections and Lipo on my lower stomach. I was quoted the standard price.

I know I have scar tissue or adhesions as I do feel pain and tenderness at times in my lower abdomen a few inches above my C-section scar and a feeling like something is ripping every time I sneeze.

My question is, has anyone with scar tissue or adhesions had any complications with the getting the sleeve and/or healing? Or did it present a problem for the doctor upon going in? Just wondering..

Thanks :)

I didnt know I had adhesions until my surgery. When I woke up he told me he had to remove them and that all went well. no worries dear. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Generally where they place incisions for c-sections is not where they place the incisions for vsg.

These are mine. You can't see the covered by my bra but its just below the xyphoid.

Thanks Birdmadgirl. Glad your surgeon removed them for you and good to know it didn't interfere with your surgery. I was worried about that could happen.

RebecaSparkeles, I see the incisions are pretty high up, I guess I was just curious since I know adhesions can grow and stick , mine are right under my belly button (as far as I know) down to my c-section... How are your incisions healing?

Really good but I popped the stitch on the biggest incision which felt great as it was causing lots of pain which is now gone but as a result I have to be extra careful not to give myself a hernia- so dont strain when pooing- easy up & down w/ bed & chairs. Still have the lift restriction.

They glued me w/ dermabond & weren't very precise w/ it. One incision near bellybutton lifted up & the glue came off! My surgeon said its ok but keep it clean & dry.

I'm allergic to many adhesives so steri strips aren't an good option for me.

They itch like crazy- i lightly scratch around them but only over a t shirt.

Tiff, I asked my surgeon this very question today. I have had 2 c-sections and I know that they had to take down lots of adhesions when they went in for the second c-section. He said that the incisions for the sleeve are made high around the ribs and the adhesions from my c-section are in my lower abdomen so they shouldn't interfere with surgery.

Rebecca sparkles ouch! Sounds painful :( hopefully scarring will be minimal. I will keep it in mind when I am post op as I tend to push myself , as most women do trying to take care of kids and housework.

LynRN thanks so much for your reply, good to hear what the doc has to say about our situation :)

Tiff, thanks for asking this question. I have quite a bit of scar tissue/adhesions and I have disclosed all surgeries to my doctor. However, mine are ALL over my belly. Every time they do something in there, it creates a lot of scar tissue and I know everything is probably fused together; however, I believe my surgeon will be able to go in and take care of all of it, soooo hopefully neither one of us will have any worries.

Thanks [emoji4]

So my band of almost 10 years failed and I had to have it removed and I had a huge amount of scar tissue and adhesions. He said it will be no problem and that it will just be more sore possibly then a person without any surgeries. I also had gallbladder removed last year too. It should be fine :) a good doctor should be able to navigate and take it out.

I had my surgery and it went well. I had the sleeve, he repaired two hernias and ALL is well. I believe with a good surgeon, they can perform this surgery with no issues.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
