Recommended Posts

Today I did very good with my meals and exercised was great, felt very good! But I can't sleep right now and I'm having cravings! I don't want to eat anything, I did so great today that I don't want to ruin it! How can I avoid feeling this way? This carb withdrawal is real!!

There is nothing wrong with having some Protein as a snack before bed...If I don't eat something I wake up in the middle of the night and have to eat something....Now I plan a Protein snack around 9-10 at night...about a 1/4 of a cup will do..

Seems to be working for me..160 down.....

When I have late night cravings, I eat something high Protein - like a boiled egg or chicken breast. If I have to have something sweet, it's usually sugar free jell-o mixed with cream cheese or a Russell Stover sugar free Pecan Delight or a sugar free Popsicle.

I think it was Fiddleman that suggested it but using a Casin Protein Shake before bed helps your body heal and keeps you full through the night. I will do this or something not hard on my system like some cheese.< /p>

When and if you have the sleeve, the suppression of the ghrelin surge at night should help. Do you eat sweets or high-glycemic carbs? Artificial sweeteners still stimulate insulin and I know they can set me off into carb cravings.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
